This is the name: We Can Compromise Because We Haven't Been Brainwashed. (Not a very exciting name I know, but the person who thought up the name was tired.)
Article 1: We are people who believe that God does not exclude science and science does not exclude God.
If ya wanna join ya gotta accept Article 1. That's about it. We are gonna have hats with propellers and other neat things. Oh ya, girls can join too. Check out the thread about creationism and evolution if you want to see how the club started. There are about four or five charter members. Oh, ya, no dues either.

No, no, my dear friend, I don't disagree with you. In fact I probably agree with you. But I don't want the intent of the club to be diverted into other areas. I think that Article 1 really says it all:God and Science do not exclude each other. Both sides of the religion, science debate tend to want to find things to fight about which really does not help science or religion. In the past science and religion did not oppose each other they worked together. The sciences you mentioned have opened vast areas of human understanding in especially the past 180 years or so. Religion has in many cases not done the same. But that does not mean that the two should exclude each other, only that religions that are current and popular today have reached the bottom or cellar of their influence.

Great, have a gingerale. *pops open a fizzy bottle of gingerale and hands it to Branin*
You know, eventually someone's gonna get pissed about this......okay, I want in.

Do you accept Article 1?

Article 2: In cases where God/Religion and Science directly contradict (such as literal Young Earth Creationism vs. Physics, Chemistry, Astronomy and Geology.) Science will hold sway.
Without that, I cannot consider this club.
I would oppose such an article.

I accept Article I, but I don't like to join clubs and I never wear propellors. Can I be a club guest -- just stop in now and then, drink your gingerale, say "here, here" or "nay, nay" now and then, and use your bathroom?
EDIT: I'll bring chips.

You know if they put that Article in, this would turn into a very large flame war. And isnt that contradictory to Article 1?
Oh, as a rational anarchist, I agree with Article 1. Mind if I join?

Sure, you can drop by now and then as long as you promise not to burn the place down.

I think we can vote on that. Club members what do you think.
I just got back from Turtle Mt and I am happy to see that the club has been active. I was in a sweat lodge last night and i would love some ginger ale and cake.

I thought we had an article 2 - Evolution does not disprove the existence of God and the existence of God does not disprove the validity of Evolution.
or something like that.
EDIT: Yeah, here it is:
Article 2 proposal (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=9854645&postcount=18)
And here is the reply: Reply (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=9854654&postcount=19)
I think my wording is better than the original post due to the baggage the words "creationism" and "Intelligent Design" carry with them though.
I would say that beyond my proposal, no more articles should be permitted, otherwise we become like congress, mired in our own rules. :)

Why would this start a flame war? It's perfectly rational.

There is only one Article--Article 1.
I'll join only if there are lots of parties with lots of beer and lots and lots of girls.

I'm still waiting for an answer to my reasonable question. Heck, even the Catholic Church takes a step back when science and an overly literal interpretation of religious dogma directly contradict.

This has nothing to do with me or with debate. All I did was ask a question, and I wasn't even rude about it (unlike you, newbie,) and no one answered with a reason. What's so unreasonable about that, and why did you feel it necessary to insult me? Why don't YOU go elsewhere, since you don't seem to understand basic manners? No one likes a skulker who only comes out of the shadows to talk big.
Edit: Ah, now I see.

To be fair, in using the term 'newbie' to address svalbardania merely reinforces the idea that you are in fact trying to be rude, with your emphasis on the term newbie having the purpose of trying to reinforce your own superiority.
Have a nice day.

Ah, but I was merely responding to his telling me to get over himself. He initiated the rudeness and I responded in kind. So, while I do see your point, I feel I was justified in my response. I was indeed rude in my response to his rudeness.
My superiority needs no reinforcement. :D
That being seaid, I don't want to be a thread-party pooper.

I suppose I did sort of bring that upon myself didn't I.
But to be fair, you were pushing the point when it was obvious no one really wanted to reply to you. Previous posters had set out all the necessary details and you were just asserting superiority and demanding attention.
