It meant a week off school! Though it was my first week at the school after moving here and I hadn't been told we had the week off.... Quite embarrasing turning up at the school in my new uniform to be sent back home.

But better than the real first day - I had to walk into a hall full of the whole school which was a terrifying start!

It's comparing poems about parent-child relationships.

The title is "In The Affliction of Margaret William Wordsworth uses the first person to express a mother’s feelings about her missing son. Compare the way he does this with the other poems about parent-child relationships."

I always though it strange when Canadians, Americans and Australians name cities after places in England while ignoring the geographical origins of the name. A place called <something>mouth really should be at the mouth of the river <something> and there should also be settlements with names like <something>ton, <something>ham, <something>head, <something>ford and <something>bridge.

Technically it wasn't Canadians, Americans and Australians that named the places, it was the English (and French) settlers. I guess they were homesick, or maybe just unoriginal. But really, Nova Scotia itself is 'New Scotland'.

Maye it's the smell from that giant garbage scow called NJ...

Yes, I am basing that on pisstakes from the Simpsons and Futurama. Strangely also, yes, I have been within the confines of New Jersey. I remember nothing...
Hey, don't make fun of the garden state (yes, we're growing smokestacks). That smell is the smell of industry and progress. And a couple of landfills, some chemical plants and an oil refinery, plus the bay at low tide.

Bah, at least you could have made it poetic, like:

"An everpresent stench hung in the air; the stench of corruption"

It might not be true but at least you would be level with New York.

hey at least you get to use zipcodes... the rest of the world has to get by with nothing more than entering the city name. as a result my house is a good 3 or 4 miles out from my pin. in fact, apparently, i live in the Port or maybe, if i'm lucky, the shipyards
