Does anyone remember a hit song from 1996 entitled Last Night by Az Yet? If not I suggest you check out their only album ever released. Recently the group has gotten back together but without the same members and now they suck tremendously, but back in the day they were THEEE shit! How many of you remember them?

I do. But then again I'm a true lover of old school music.

I normally can't stand newer music, but there's something about the sound they had that cought my ear.

They were smooth! What happened to the original members, do you know? I liked B&W Affair, too, Rotovia. Do they have more available for download? I think they call the new "old style" R&B "New Jack". Doesn't seem to be gaining much in popularity. Mores the pity.

My sister was obsessed with them. Hence my hatred for their musical terrorism.

R n' B, it really isn't music, it's "disadvantaged homies" attempting to be "Modern poets", talking utter bilge into a microphone with their b'hatches and ho's. Listen to TBS or theAUDITION, real music.

Aren't you an "emo"? Making this some kind of battle between two crap musical genres. Whoever wins, eardrums everywhere lose.

Firstly, in all probablity, yes, I am really. Emo really isn't that bad, actually, its awesome. We have emotions, no R n' B "star" actually has emotions, or a soul, or any legitimacy. Merely the capacity to spout bilge into a microphone about ho's, whereas say, theAUDITION, sing about life, emotions, growing up, maturity et al.

Yeah, but what kind of dumb name is theAUDITION ? Haven't they heard of caps lock?

Oh, and most music has emotions. Emos suck not for the music, but for the pretention of calling themselves emos. Like the rest of us don't have emotions? Tossers.

It's artistic, really, and in the face of a name such as "Az Yet", please do not insult us.

Can you truly say any rapper has emotions? In all sincerity, they are to macho to harbour true emotions, they are more concerned with maintaining their masculine posturing. We, I will point out, do not call ourselves emo (often), we are who we are, you label us.:(

No. 1996 was all about Tool, Placebo, the Smashing Pumpkins and Rage Against the Machine. ;)

I hope you're not insinuating I'm a rap fan? And some emos call themselves emos, which is what makes them emos. I guess you're one of the people who listens to emopeople music but doesn't suck.

They had quite a few no.1 singles, and get consistently rated in "Best albums of all time" lists the world over.

Have a listen. Try "Fight the Power". They're very political, whether you agree with the message or not or like the music, you can't deny that they have emotion.

Nowadays, yes, definitely. But back in that era (late-80's, early 90s), there was a lot of similar stuff, and many rap groups that actually had a message.

yeah so anyway ON TOPIC lol

They were seriously underated, i had their album and it was great. i particularly liked, "Hard to say im sorry" and that 'arrow through the heart' one :P

anyway i cant believe you say rappers have no emotion have you never heard of Tupac

"Only God can judge me" has a line that says:

i hear the doctor standing over me screaming i can make it got a body full of bullet holes lying here naked and still i cant breath somethings evil in my IV coz everytime i breath i think theyre killing me

"So many tears"

the whole song is full of emotion i mean c'mon

RnB is one of the great american music genres. to say that its not music is as foolish as saying that rock and roll isnt music.

you may not like certain artists in the field but to diss RnB just makes you look uneducated.

Or pehaps educated to the extent one is capable to discern its flaws through the glamour. It is no more music than the commentary of a sports gameis, it is talkin into a microphone, and its being a great US contribution merely serves to imply how bereft of culture mainstream US culture is.

I'm talking about true and pure R&B, no talking or rapping, just singing and pure talent. Listen to the song Care For Me by Az Yet, then tell me if that sounds like rap to you.

No, it's not shit. It takes talent to sing the way they do, now most RAP and HIP HOP is shit. I still don't see how can get them confused, they're TOTALLY different genres. By saying that it's ALL shit that means Whitney Houston is shit, Boyz II Men is shit, Toni Braxton is shit, Erika Badu is shit, Stevie Wonder is shit, Babyface is shit, Ray Charles is shit, Marvin Gaye is shit, Nat King Cole is shit, Luthor Vandross is shit, and the list continues, but hey if it's all shit then those great artists must be shit too according to your view.

That's all you had to say to begin with, don't claim that something is shit just because you don't know how to appreciate it. Without R&B I'm quite sure some genres that you like today would not exist. Insulting Stevie Wonder in my view is just unforgivable. He's a freakin genius.

Sorry, so very sorry. It's only a joke

In the UK at least, rap and hip hop are marketed as sub-genres of RnB, and they are by far the most popular. Hence, depending on your musical tastes, rap=RnB.
