A cliche I know, but what do people think about life in general, whether it has any purpose (say 42 and I will hunt you down), and whether or not pre-destination is in action upon our lives?

(say 42 and I will hunt you down)
But what is the question?!?!?
It must be: What do you get when you multiply 6 by 9?
In base thirteen, btw

But I honestly believe that the entire world is the product of the imagination of a boy who does not realize what he really is (*sees if anyone catches this*).

I stopped looking for meaning after experiencing situations where I was nearly killed.

Do that enough, and just being alive is good enough.

Everyone has their own "purpose". Not a pre-destined one. Something personal to you which makes your life meaningful.

Or, a little more abstractly, the product of 6 and 7; the respective numbers symbolising Evil and Good. >_>;

What is life? We're the sum of our components, and the sum of the interactions between those components.

Our biological purpose is to continue the pattern. We live, interact with other living things, and in doing so allow the complexities of macroscopic entities to flourish. All we need to do in order to fulfil this purpose is to keep living alongside those around us and spreading a little altruism around.

Basically, we live to propagate life, and to do so in a way that is in harmony with our natural instincts and our existential peers.

You don't really need to recognise it; you can set your own aims as you wish. But underlying it all is a sense of a need to be part of something greater, because that is ultimately what our composition asks of us. This something greater can have many possible solutions, but which solution you choose doesn't make a great difference; either way, you're contributing and fulfilling the inbuilt purpose by simply being a part of it.

... Or so I reckon. ^^;

I find most of life's questions lead me around in circles with the answers.

Life is largely a huge paradox. If this, then that, but not this, yeah that pretty much sums it up.

did any of that make sense to anyone? no? okay good then;)

:fluffle:

There is nothing which gives your life any point? No memories which made life worth living just to experience that? No relationships which you wouldn't give up? No hopes or dreams you wouldn't live for to try and achieve? Nothing in life that you find enjoyable?

For one thing, I know you want to travel and you love going to new places.

There are so many things in life which make it worthwhile.

Deep down, you know it's the depression talking. Please keep hope.

That reminds me of an animation I watched when I was very young, about 15 years ago, and of which I've been trying to remember the title for the last decade. However, I suspect you're referring to something much more mainstream and I just don't get it, so please explain.

Life is like a game of cricket - it lasts ages, it's best during the summer, and frequently there's no result at the end of it.

Life is like fellatio.
Alot of people seem to like, but several others would prefer it to be different and other people don't really seem to care for it at all. Throughout the dicks get the most out of it, generally at the expense of women around them. And when it ends, it generally does so in a messy way that no one will clean off of the bathroom floor until the weekend is over, so you sneak into the other wing of your dorm to shower.
No, that doesn't make very much sense, let me start over:

Life is like being in a fish tank.
You seem to possesss infinite freedom to move up and down at the start, but after awhile you start realize the boundries that fence you in. Inspite of repeated attempts to escape, you are squeezed into a smaller and smaller area as you grow and mature. Many others who are bigger and more powerful then you lurk around the edges of your conciousness, sometimes peeping in at you, and other times banging their great fat usless hands on your prison. Finally, just as your will is broken, and you are settling into the morays of the tank, you get pulled out, sliced open, and served fried with a side of chips.
Aaargh, no good again:

Life is like a thermonuclear bomb.
I honestly have no idea where I am going with this one, so I'm just going to make one last try:

Life is like an analogy.
It seems like a good idea to have one, but the moment you start thinking about it, you realize that it doesn't make any sense.

Being miserable is fine (not much fun but fine) as long as you don't let yourself blindly believe whatever thoughts come into your head. It's hard work but you have to fight it.

and yeah i got your email thanks, very nice... cheered me up no end :) :)

Ah... the Instrumentality of Man. An interesting solution to the problem of belonging, but one that disregards the reason for its existence.

Nah, that didn't come around 'till 1995. 15 years would put the date at around 1990.

Someone at least can bother to speak the truth. I agree here. In fact, I don't bother anymore. I committed suicide last year, in fact. Now look at me! Hey, I can dance in mid-air! W00t! Oh no, not again...I'm falling through a hole in the universe. Wheeee! It's just like a huge slide! I...
