So, what does Delay have to say about his indictment? Well, frst he compares it to being part of a concerted witchhunt - lumped in with Fitzgerald as, I assume, it is unconscionable that there is an investigation into who damaged national security at a time of war by leaking the name of a NOC AND the carefully developed over decades front corporation that she worked through and which was an effective cover for other active investigations?

and he follows up with (http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2005-10-27-delay-letter_x.htm)

"What we're fighting is so much larger than a single court case or a single district attorney in Travis County," the Texas Republican wrote. "We are witnessing the criminalization of conservative politics."

Oh yes Tom. You have control of every facet of lawmaking in the country. You have the White House, the Congress, AND the senate, and the ability to appoint the swing judge on SCOTUS.

But yet you are still the poor oppressed conservatives being ground under the heel of the Liberal jackboot....

Let us all shed a tear for the poor, poor, powerless conservatives.... it is so sad to see the hardships that they face in getting their message out to the people. The way they are marginalized from the halls of power.

*sniff*

It's just so..... pathetic really.

Jim Wright was vaporized for less...

I firmly believe that:

a) most senior politicians of both parties are corrupt
b) they spend a lot of time gaming the rules in order to win
c) sometimes, but not often, they get caught
d) sometimes the investigations are political, sometimes they are not - but the opposition is always glad to see an investigation of the other side, whether it was their idea or not

Oh definitely there is corruption at the top of both parties.

The nature of the system ensures it.

DeLiar, though, is just such an overt example that watching him try and play the poor wounded innocent is too funny to pass up.

Most of the time, when people in high places get skewered, they are either silent (and appear angry), or they are vocal and throw blame around.
