He is pretty excited as he worked hard on all of his achievements and really did his best. I'm really proud of him.

I'll accept that. But keep in mind, we are talking about a boy that turned 7 last week and worked hard and honest to accomplish all the requirements. His confidence in himself is great.

It's an intermediate level between Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. It takes quite a bit of work to get.

It's kind of like in ancien Rome, where Generals got to 'decorate' themselves with fearsome dead animal skins. The kiddies get a wolf to wear as a badge. For their outstanding achievement. Or something. :p

Its a rank badge in Cub Scouts, after the Bobcat Badge. He completes many achievements in citizenship, emergency preparedness, helping others, his faith, physical fitness, etc... to get it. Next is the gold and silver arrow heads on his way to a Bear Badge.

Boy Scouts were actually started in England and moved to America shortly after.

Thanks- I know and I do appreciate it. He's also working on several belt loops and the Light Of Christ award at the same time. I'm really glad as he is doing great in school too and is having no problem applying himself.

Hey- you would probably appreciate this- two weekends ago, my son and I and a dozen others from our pack slept over on the USS New Jersey, anchored in Camden,NJ. Great experience!

It does make a big difference in the boys. Especially in their attitude towards responsibility. Of course, teaching personal responsibility is "out" nowadays - there are many who are probably thinking that we should be teaching our boys to "rely on the government in all things and blame the government in all things".

We have 8 boys in our den now, including two tigers after the tiger den leader had to quit. We often emphasize personal responsibilty.

Oh hush. Peronal responsibility will always be out with some, and never out with others.

Congratulations! Children who work hard are especially rare nowadays. You should (and I imagine you are) proud of your son.

Thank you kindly. I certainly am. Seeing him doing his best and enjoying it makes me feel like I'm being a good father.

Well before this turns into right-wing meat-puppetry I'd like to congratulate the little scumbag (all cubs are, don't take it too personally).

Hey, I'm an Explorer Scout, been in Scouts since Beavers and worked at it. I just find cubs to be annoying.

Never did as much badge-work back then so 'spect to the little guy for going at it.
