How the hell?

I was walking outside today looking at the damage from the latest hurricane and I came upon a flower pot, now this is one of this huge industrial 300-400 pound concrete flower pots and it was totally smashed to bits. How in the name of hell can hurricane force winds do that to a flower pot of such a robust structure?

Debris?

quite possibly, but there was none in the area or any foreign particles suggesting that debris was the cause. It was also crushed in such a way that it left no evidence of high velocity impacts. It's as if a giant took it into it's hands and crushed it into powder.

... just another example of GOVERNMENT INCOMPETENCE. Inadequate quality controls in the manufacture/importation of flower pots.

Considering these winds can pick up people and even cars, isn't it plausible that the thing was blown over and smashed up that way?!?

Waited it out, I don't exactly have money to spend like water around here.

I'm with Krazhoka- it was probably lifted up, banged into a few buildings/objects, and brought back down with a bang. Of course, pictures would give us a much better idea of what you're talking about.

Fun fact on hurricanes: The force of the wind is enough to embed a piece of straw (like the kind you use in a stable or barn) several inches deep within a brick wall. Aye, I think it's strong enough to crush your flower pot.

I would say Smurfs.
The Smurfs did it.
