FEMA did the right thing (http://washingtontimes.com/national/20051024-115322-6301r.htm) Monday when they decided that it was okay to possess weapons in their refugee trailer parks. I'm sure there was a little poking and prodding from the NRA, but that's what we pay them to do.
The catch? You can't actually use the guns.

Hmmm. That would make for a fascinating Supreme Court case: a resident of the trailer park who owns a gun uses it to prevent the rape of a young woman. Which applies, the laws of the State of Luisiana or the FEMA regulations? :D
Pistol whipping is fun! Seems fair enough, it's about like living in any city. (aside from chicago  )

So, it´s actually good that dislocated people, who have lost everything, who have seen the state fail them, who are packed tightly in weeny small camps and who most certainly have a very relaxed attitude towards life right now, have guns? Let´s hope that piece of Floridan legislation doesn´t get drafted somewhere near those camps.
Btw, what good are firearms if you´re not allowed to fire them? Or is that the good thing about them?

No, one of the best things about having a legally owned firarm is that you probably won't have to use it; just showing that you have it is often deterrent enough. :D
And I strongly suspect you are overstating the plight of most of the refugees.
