I just found out that my cousin's wife sold their child's crib. Now the baby is sleeping in a box on the floor. Isn't that screwed up?
This serves as the perfect adage for any action that benefits people today at the expense of the next generation. Global warming, national debt, outsourcing, all are analogous to my cousin-in-law, selling out her kid's future so that she can have a few extra bucks. It's the exact same principle.
From now on whenever I hear of people exercising selfish disregard for the future wellbeing of their nation/family/species I'm going to call them on "selling the crib".
