Yeah, and ironically enough I live in Columbus.
But, in fairness, I was a Red Wings fan before the Blue Jackets were even a team. Having been an Akron resident at the time, I decided they were closer [barring the Penguins, who I hate because Pittsburgh sucks] and so chose to root for them. Oddly enough, the Wings won the Stanley Cup [in '96] the same year I started following hockey seriously.
