To current and military personell past their use-by date... are you proud of killing people? When my dad was in school (50s-60s) anybody that wasn't in the Army Training Corps. got their ass kicked. They were made to to the crappy work all around school, anyways, are you proud of firing missiles at helpless peoples and shooting un-armed peoples? My dad was in the military (not from his own choosing) and to my knowledge never fired a weapon at anyone. He wasn't and won't be the only one that never fired a weapon, since a vast portion of the US military at least consists of support troops.
You can give any sixth grader a gun and tell him to shoot something, but tanks, planes, ships, and oh yeah, missiles take maintenance.

It takes a lot more than people willing to kill to keep an army running. Cavalry needed two horses for every horse and rider simply to carry enough food.
And like I said, my dad didn't choose to go to the army.;)

I wish i could be proud but it is so hard of late to be proud of what we have now unlike the good all days.

Yes, I'm proud of what I did, and I have no regrets. No one I shot was helpless. No one I killed was unarmed.

I've both shot people and called for MLRS fire on people. In each case, they were shooting at me long before I shot back.

And I don't kick people's asses because they weren't in the military. The military is not for everyone.

Nope: the point of an army is to neutralise the enemy by whatever means are appropriate. If it turns out that in order to neutralise them it is necessary to kill them, rather than capture them or force them to surrender or desert, then that is only one of the methods by which an army operates - it is not their raison d'etre. Even as a staunch pacifist I recognise this distinction.

Ohhh...haven't seen one of these sinse the age of Caribel!

This is a pretty distorted view of the armed forces. But I am proud of my service. I've dropped tons of bombs on artillery and tanks. I've bombed dozens of troops in the open. I've even slung a couple bombs at Khadafi. In every case, I was protecting American soldiers from further harm. In other words, I've never killed anyone who wasn't trying to kill either me or my shipmates.

My conscience is clear. What the hell is your problem?
