after 24 years of illegal occupation and killing 1/3 of the occupation,
the largest % since WW2, justice still has not been done.
Indonesia was given a chance to try those responsible for
the mass murder in East Timor, now it is up to us to pressure
our gov'ts, elected officials, especially those of us who armed
Indonesia, the US, Ausssie, UK, especially us in the US, to actively
support an international war crimes tribunal.
*in '91 when the world helped Kuwait rid itself of Iraq, the Timorese
thought for sure our plight will finally be paid attention to. This
was not the case. Not til a couple years later when 270 non-violent
funeral attendies were gunned down and was actually witnessed by
foreign journalists did the world start to pay attention,
**NOW, with Saddam Hussein being up for trial,
it is OUR responsibility to tell our respective gov'ts to do the right thing,
since that is how democracy works, and support a tribunal for East Timor.
Many of the Indonesian military personal actually got promotions
after their tour of state terror **exactly the correct words** in
illegally occupied East Timor.

A MOB backed by Indonesian troops has crossed into East Timor,
attacked a border patrol and set fire to buildings, threatening the
fragile peace between the two nations.

provoking new violence and border tension in the vulnerable Oecussi
enclave.
