On one thread a while ago, there was a debate over hate speech, and weather it should be protected as free speech.

I ask you this, should hate speech be protected under the various Free Speech clauses of the world's constitutions?

Racist speech, sexist speech, the likes.

A good example would be the Ku Klux Klan in the U.S. They continually say that Blacks should be seperated from whites, that they are an inferior race.

If this question was directed at Americans, I would have asked about the KKK. But, I wanted a more international sampling, so I asked this.

Possibly.

I've never seen it defined as such before.

Some people could define sexist speak as hate speech. I was just giving examples of what people may consider hate speech.

I really worry about restricting any type of speach, hate-speach is something that is highly subjective. Freedom of speach should include freedom of all speach. (with certain restrictions like yelling "FIRE" in a movie theater.)
I don't like 90% of what other people say, but I can choose not to listen.

Hate speech law tends to be quite narrow and isn't just "what people could define things as."

If you don't allow freedom of speech, discontented members of society will find nonverbal means of expressing themselves.

In the case of hate speech, this is usually not a good thing.

Protection of unpopular ideas is actually the whole point to protecting free speach. It is easy to say "you are free to say what you will, as long as it isn't offensive" It is far harder to defend someones right to say something offensive and unpopular.
