Wow, when this happened I knew I had to post it on here. Some of you will think this is hilarious and some will think I'm a dirty bigot, both will be right, and I don't care. But this story must be told.

I was driving home at around 5:30 today when a car pulled out into the right lane a short distance up the street. They got up to speed quickly, and stopped speeding up around 39 - I know, because it's what I was doing. They maxed out a little bit behind me, and, checking my mirror, I noticed that the driver was an older Asian woman on a cell phone. Immediately, I was like, "Fuck this," and I dropped back six or seven car lengths. While I was doing this, another car started passing me on the right doing one or two miles faster than I had been doing. Coming up on the lady, the driver switches lanes to pass her. Suddenly, as the guy that passed me's front end came about halfway up the lady's car, she spots her turn - apparently on the left - and tries to switch into the guy's lane. He immediately slams on the brakes - so do I - and swerves to miss the stupid cell phone lady, and succeeds. Unfortunately, he succeeds right into the rear of a car in the center turn lane. Fortunately for him, I got the lady's plate for him and stopped to give it to him, and told the first cop on the scene that it was her fault. Hopefully he gets off, but that's not really the point of the story. If I wouldn't have been a dirty bigot, that'd have been me next to her, waiting to be hit.

Based on this evidence alone, we can clearly see that caution pays. A profound story if ever I heard one. And I did. This one.

Yeah, no shit. And I will admit that she probably fucked up because she was on her cell phone, not because she was Asian, or a she, or semi-old - well, maybe because she was Asian. :) But I wouldn't have dropped back if she had been a younger black or white he.

I would have done the same, not because of her age, sex or race, but because she had a damned phone in her hand and wasn't doing what she should have been doing........

Where I live, if I were to drop back every time I saw a fucking cell phone driver, I would probably have to quit driving from frustration.

Cell phones driving and halogen headlights should be illegal though. So fucking annoying... the former induces stupidity and the latter blinds me and gives me a headache. I turn my brights on whenever I see them just to fuck with the driver.

It was made illegal to use a hand held mobile phone while driving a vehicle.

wait are you guys saying that it's bad to talk on the phone while driving? how about talking to someone sitting next to you? or listening to music? how about changing cds or radio stations or looking at some cute girl's ass? aren't they all equally distracting? so what's the big fucking deal with cellphones? everyone bitches about it and then everyone uses one..it's not the phones guys, people are dumb as shit anyways. half the people in the world have an IQ below 100. that's half the drivers ya'll. and the girls that put on make up or look at themselves in the mirror and shit, how about them? i think we should just ban cars :)

My boyfriend got a ticket for talking on his phone at a RED LIGHT.

Certainly pays to not only have a headset, but long enough hair to cover said headset when they probably illegalize use of those as well.

I mean please.....I get more distracted smoking a cigarette with a free hand than I do talking on a phone. Psht.

Read my post ******. I said they "are more easily distracted", not "they crash all the time". Twice the other day two different women tried to merge into a lane I was in.

A short time ago, (Episode 33) they tested to see which was worse: drunk driving (just under the legal limit) or talking on a cell phone.

They had driver instructors and police with them to keep an eye on them. In both cases, they failed the course. Worse yet, driving with a cell phone had WORSE results than driving after drinking.

No. Using a handheld phone or changing CDs or radio stations needs you to use a hand. You know, those things you need to drive. That's the main problem. Changing CDs or radio stations also takes your eyes off the road.
