Secret Plan to Take Over the US

Let me know if you think this could work.

1. The procedure for applying for statehood in the US is very clear.
2. Every nation in the world applies for statehood, all at the same time.
3. Once a significant number of previously foreign nations have become part of the US, they accelerate the process of acceptance.
4. After a while, almost every country is a US state.
5. They now outnumber the original states, and can muster political power to do things differently.

Hm... To my knowlege, we have never turned down an official petition by any territory/government/whatever to become a US state. And we've already gone longer without admitting a new state than ever before in the history of the US.

However, given the current precarious political balance between two deeply divided political parties, I don't see either one of them allowing anything that would upset the balance as much as admitting a new state would. If it would benefit one party, the other party would scuttle it. Thus, I see the admission of any new states to the US as being unlikely in the immediate future.

Ah yes, I can see it now!

All over the world citizens getting to fill out ballots for a referendum that asks:

Do you want to ask GW to be your leader?

IT would be a great gag for International Humour Day!

And it would work, because everyone with a sense of humor would say Yes.

lol. I don't think it'd work, but it'd be hilariously funny to see.

Puerto Rico has turned down the chance to be a state everytime it has been brought up. I don't see them becoming a state anytime soon.

As for Canada. We don't want them. They are to liberal to be Americans :D

I'm sure the nightlife in a Canadian town is just as good as the nightlife in a comparable US town.
That being said, he'll have a lot of fun away from all this sorry partisanship (when there really is next to nothing distinguishing the two parties), and all "teh terrorism alertz!!".

But if you're talking about Action (;) , ;) ), then perhaps there may be a problem...

I doubt that plan would work. There's bound to be a bunch of political activists that will be up in arms to prevent Mexico from applying for and gaining statehood, and thus allowing Mexicans to enter the US freely.

Racist, aren't you? I live 63 miles north of the Mexico Amercian border. I have a huge percentage of illegal aliens from Mexico in the prison system that we would love to send back to Mexico, and will eventually. On the other hand, we have a few LEGAL immigrants actually working for us on green cards, people I like. I could care less if you're white, brown, black, or pink and purple like Fass, as long as you move in legally, and abide by our laws, welcome in.

Well, aside from getting the word wrong, no problem, stay in Sweden and make more low budget pornos. Isn't that Sweden's main export, anyway? Never cared enough to look it up.

What word? There was none misspelled or misused in that post.

no problem, stay in Sweden and make more low budget pornos. Isn't that Sweden's main export, anyway? Never cared enough to look it up.

I'll have you know our porn is quite high in budget. Alas, it does not beat machinery, such as erection pumps, to the coveted main export spot.

Would never work...

I don't see the U.S. accepting any applications for statehood right now, other than from Puerto Rico.

Oh, and Puerto Rico is NEVER going to become a state. It will stay a commonwealth forever, or else become an independent country.

As long as they stay a commonwealth, the people pay next to nothing in taxes. Yet they get all the same perks that the rest of the U.S. gets.

All of the benefits, none of the drawbacks...it's a nice little racket they got set up down there.

One small problem ...

In order to become a state, a country has to ratify the US Constitution as it stands, in completion.

I cannot imagine a place like, say, Saudi Arabia agreeing to women's suffrage or free speech.
