The Maestro's term will expire next year. Who will President Bush nominate for the position? This isn't like selecting the next pope, this is important. Here are some names listed by The Economist:
Glenn Hubbard- was Bush's first CEA (Council of Economic Advisers) chairman. He's focusedmainly on fiscal policy.
Larry Lindsay- former Fed governor in the 90s and Bush's chief economic adviser in the 2000 campaign.
Don Kohn- Fed staffer who was appointed a fed governor in 2002 by Bush.
Roger Ferguson- the vice chairman of the Fed.
Ben Bernanke- Monetary economist and currently chairman of Bush's CEA.
Martin Feldstein- A macroeconomist who chaired Reagan's CEA. He has focused more on fiscal policy. (However, according to The Economist, he hasn't been active in policy making for two decades)
