Jack Thompson is an atourny that is actively attempting to censor and prosecute gaming companies such as rockstar for their product (specifically blaming deaths on games and attempting compensation for it)

He went on dateline and vowed to donate 10k dollars to charity if anyone designed a game where you killed game company executives and their families

No big surprise someone did

And also no big surprise this idiot rescinded his offer calling the offer “satire”
So penny arcade steps up the plate and DONATES the money FOR Jack Thompson to charity

Guess what he does

Files a lawsuit … and writes a letter to their local PD claming harassment and attempting to get the people at penny arcade fired

Jackass … reneges on his deal and has the balls to sue someone for DONATING TO CHAIRITY
Now I don’t think I can properly convey the idiocy of the situation

Ummmm...nope...wrong...My sources say Muhammad was against the killing of Jews and Christians (unfortunately, some Muslims tend to forget that, e.g. Osama) and I doubt he was ever a "prirate" who "killed infidels" (Islam states you can inslave infidels, but not kill them or stop them from practising their own religion, another fact some Muslims tend to forget). While Islam, like all belief systems, certainly has its problems and odd bits (The Crusades, 9/11, etc.), it also has its loving and benevolent side. Thompson seems to be a fan of throwing ahellva alotta stones in a glass house...:rolleyes:

The oddest thing is that he actually replies to the e-mail he's getting. If I was at war with the entire gaming community I'd just have a standard e-mail reply like "I don't care about your opinions"
Also he seems to threaten every single website that lampoons him. How does he find all this shit? If there were multiple webpages devoted to killing me I wouldn't have a clue. The internet is a big place. But he find every single one and threatens them. Odd.

This man is a senile loon with an over-inflated sense of self-importance. The only thing is, you can't ignore him because there are other senile loons out there in power who listen to him.

There's a WikiPedia entry on him (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Thompson_%28attorney%29). I couldn't read through it in its entirety due to falling on the floor in convulsive laughing fits. I'm sincerely amazed that a raving town loony can carry so much clout in this country. I won't call for his head, but i will cite that a group he has stated he works with have decided to distance themself from him (http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=12259). Further discrediting of him may yield positive results.

American politics, everyone.

Why would two people who have started their own charity (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Child%27s_Play_%28charity%29) lie about donating money, especially when that would make the very cause they support look very, very bad?

The only thing that passes for editorial review on wikipedia is what other people who also have no credentials say about the topic and the arguments that ensue. In this case of this article even that most rudimentary and nearly useless form of review shows that the article's neutrality is in question. Besides, none of the links on the wikipedia article point to anything regarding these latest allegations. So, I still have yet to see any reputable articles on the topic. So far what we have is, two personal blogs and one gaming site making some claims and some folks repeating them on wikipedia (assuming its not the same guys who wrote the blogs). It doesnt become true just because more people repeat what they read on some blogs. Until I see something from a credible source I will assume this is fiction as should anyone else who values hearing something from a credible source rather than simply accepting whatever people post on blogs as undeniable fact.
