I thought we brits were ahead of the game at such things but a mate of mine didn't know where Holland was (and in Yorkshire where opposite the damn place) I'm giving up hope..

I don't know whether to be proud that I know where EVERY COUNTRY MENTIONED actually is located, or to be further ashamed that this behaviour is allowed to get by. People should be given at least a BASIC geographical quiz (like "what region of the world is ________ in?", and yes, this will actually just be a sub-section of the tests I've been pushing for for at least the past three years) before they're allowed to live on their own, procreate, or be interviewed on tele.
