There's a very intense discussion in the "Is America Collapsing?" thread about which country is better? Canada or USA? http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=449930&page=2

So I decided to start this discussion right here.

BTW, I say living in Canada better than living in the USA.:D

Also, goto this thread: http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=450112 :D

Is Canada:
-a melting pot: Given how many Indian Canadians I've met here in Australia, I'd guess the answer is "yes". :D

-have 300 million people: No, I don't think so (about a tenth or so). So they're even more free to enjoy their own private space!

-a powerful military: No. Does that make them any less free?

-rights that are gaurenteed under a thing called the constitution: Yes! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_Charter_of_Rights_and_Freedoms

-knows whats a state and federal issue?: Well, they do have plenty of "states", so they have issues with that too. In fact, aren't all kinds of people trying to become independent over there?

From a Civil Libertarian's point of view, I'd think I'd rather live in Canada than in the US if you look at it on aggregate.
Well, that's my opinion. I don't think having actual debates about abortion, gay marriage or having stupid anti-terror laws is particularly desirable.

Ya, well its too hot in the USA. There are a few parts of Canada that are warmer then the Northern US. For instance the Fraser Valley in south-west BC.

Correct me if I'm wrong. America's healthcare is superior and had more specialist doctors here. Canada's healthcare is affordable, drugs are cheap (no pun intended), and healthcare is very accessible. I like Canada's healthcare over the American's, the doctor always here when you needed and price for medicine is perfect , whether you're a student on a budget or a family on low income.

Zambia and India. Both places I was practically living rich.

...Pretty much because I was living with rich relatives.

...Didn't like it so much.

But if you wish to make my opinion matter less to you, let me explain. I am 15.

And what's wrong with living here anyway? I think it's the best place for me. You think Canada is heaven or something? Ha.

The USA. Without hesitation. Though Canada has quite a lot of mud, most of it is far too cold for far too long to really do me much good.

National healthcare is groovy too as I'm often getting hurt. But still, not enough. I have very good healthcare right now.

I really like the direction that social liberalism is taking Canada, but I'd rather focus my attention on dragging the big religious stick out of America's ass. :)

Because I consider this to be the only country in the world for me. Anywhere else and I'd either be in jail or dismissed as a harmless kook. Here, I'm just crazy enough to stand out. :D

Yeah, Corny is making idiotic (false) facts about Canada.

Yes Corny there is only one huge scandal involving the Liberal party (well Gomery didn't say it was the Libs who did it), but considering how many scandals involving the Bush administration during their time in power.

Corny is like Ann Coulter. Corny, STOP FEEDING INFORMATION FROM FOX!!!

I believe that word for what just happened to Canada is "pwned."
So yeah, I'm going to stick to the southern end of the U.S./Canada border, because from this side I can laugh at mounties freely. God only knows what would happen if I ended up over there.
On the other hand, the one thing that Canada has on its side is that Canadian celebrities don't threaten to move to America should their canidate du jour fail to win whatever election he is involved in, and then fail to leave when said candidate gets his moving papers from the voting public.

The funny part is the US Govt spends more per capita on healthcare than the Canadian Govt does, and Canada has free healthcare.

Canada. For several reasons:

The climate. The colder the better. I love snow, winter, and freezing cold.

The topography. More unexplored forests, larger parks, larger waterfalls, scenery, etc. You know, nature and all that stuff.

The politics. I r teh l3ft-w1ngz0r.

Besides, any country without George W. in it can't be all too bad.

Edit after It was pointed out to me that I overlooked something and made myself look like an idiot.... but my point of the US companies developing the drugs still stands valid.

Not so much funny as a simple numbers game. US has about 10 times the population of Canada. And let's not mention the companies that develop the drugs the canadians then buy the off brand version of.

Um...do you know what per capita means?

I've lived in Florida for most of my life and generally hate it here. There are certain parts of the USA that I wouldn't mind moving to if I could secure a stable job there, such as Oregon, Washington, or Alaska, but after visiting Canada, I wouldn't hesitate to move in with our northern neighbors, particularly the Vancouver area in British Columbia. As you can tell, I'm rather fond of the Northwest.

Let me put it this way :

I've been considering living in Canada ever since I lived in Montreal for a year during my time at university.

I wouldn't even consider the USA for a holiday. While I was in Canada, I visited twice and ... shall we say, it's no place for me.

I live on the South-Western coast. It has snowed about three times in the last two years. When it does snow it is rarely able to stay on the ground for more than a couple days.
