Great isn't it? I saw a couple of weeks ago.
Only works if you've seen the original movie.
On a related note, did you know the boy who played Danny in the movie didn't even know he was in a horror movie until years later. Kubrick was overly protective of the actor because he was so young, so didn't tell him anything about the movie or let him watch any of the horror scenes.
The scene where Danny rides his tricycle round the corner and sees the twins - he never saw anything. He just rode around the corner, stopped and was told to look scared and hide his face. The twins part was filmed later after he left the set.
Next time you watch it, look at the scenes with Danny in them. Very few of them could be considered horror material.

Holy shit that's great! That's exactly how that movie should have originally been marketed. Imagine the horror as people intending to bring the kids out for a nice, heartwarming family film are treated to images like the decomposing old chick in the bathtub and the little girls hacked to pieces in the hallway.
