In the words of Andy Rodzilsky, aka Andy the Clown:

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, YOU WHITE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOXXXXXXXXXXX!!!

Longtime Sox fans will understand. The rest of you won't get it.

While I'm not a White Sox fan (Tigers..ugh), I can understand your excitement. Hopefully, Shoeless Joe won't come back to haunt you.

Yup. Baseball is an important part of American culture. If Lyric chooses to share her views on this cultural aspect, than she may.

Of course she may, but I'm just asking to see if I should use my ignore list on her for a while. :p

How about we just bump this thread next game (when the Angels win), instead of making a new one? That might be better.

Pish posh, Fass. Deal with it, just for a few more days.

If you place her on your (rather lengthy) ignore list, you might miss something important.

Will it end then? I have no idea about the length of the season.

If you place her on your (rather lengthy) ignore list,

There are a no people on it currently, so "non-existent ftm" is more accurate.

you might miss something important.

From Lyric, and on these boards? Please. ;)

I kid, I kid. Don't get your knickers in a twist.

Yes, it will end soon. This are the postseason playoffs. These are the semifinal games. Once one team from both series' gets to 4 wins, the championship will start. Again, first to 4 games wins.

Anyway, within the next 1.5 weeks, it will be, most likely, over.

Oh, well, I can live with that. I was fearing this would go on for months, like football (the proper one where you don't use your hands) does.

Oh no.

Now how am I supposed to go to my Poli sci 350 class? Let me explain.. my professor, Dr. Dungey, is a huge Angels fan and he had money riding on this one... oh god... I'm not going to hear the end of this.... he's going to use the whole class to bitch about it... :headbang:

If the World Series goes seven games, and no rain delays, it is scheduled to end October 30.

Well, I don't like either form of football....or SOCCER...and the American version is the only proper version. The rest of the world is wrong. America is right. Get used to it.
Y'all don't play football right...y'all drive on the wrong side of the street...etc, etc, etc.

Sounds my American Foreign Relations Professor with the San Diego Padres AND the Chargers. Both teams suck and when they lose, he drops it in class!

HAHA! Reminds me of something funny that happened in class last semester :D

Who cares about the White Sox? The Angels must have a comeback. Since the Yankees are gone (thank you Anaheim!) along with the Red Sox, the Angels are all that's left! (forget the National League!)

Fat chance. You'll be watching the Series from your couch. Kiss our black and silver asses, ain't no way you guys are coming back from being down 3-1 in the series, against Contreras, Buehrle, and Garland!
Not gonna happen.
Face reality.
White Sox pennant is imminent.

and stop being so damned selfish. YOUR team just won one in 2002. MINE has never won one in my lifetime. It's our goddamned turn. You go on home now.

Isn't that what the Yankee fans were saying last year when they were 3 up on Boston? Never say never Lyric. I'm not saying that lightening strikes twice but you do have to keep that possibility open.

Not only are my beloved Astros winning (series now 3-1), but I got the joy of watching an utterly frustrated Tony La Russa get ejected from the game.

We got 'em scared now. ;)

Sweeeet.

But, it ain't over 'til it's over. It is, however, the Astros's turn. We've never been to the World Series. Granted, we're a young team ... only been around since 1962 and weren't named the Astros until 1966 (before that, we were the Houston Colt .45s - how cool a name is that?) .... but it's our turn, damnit!

We went all the way to game 7 of the NL series against the Cards last year (5-2 loss :( ) ... let's not repeat it! All we gotta do is win tomorrow.

That is what I, as an Astros fan, am incredibly worried about. another fucking 1980 (screw you, Phillies!) another fucking 1986 (screw you, Mets!!) or another fucking 2004 (screw you, Cardinals!!)

Goddamn, as a long-time lover of two teams who hardly EVER win, it gets real easy to get demoralized real fast, because WE can't just go and say, "aw, hell, we'll get 'em next year." Not like the fucking Yankees can. Not like the fucking Braves can. Not like the fucking Cardinals and Angels can. For us, "next year" is too fucking far in between. And we know it.

will clemens and Pettite be back next year? Doubt it. If they are, they are yet one year older, and are not getting any younger, and it's gotta catch up with them sooner or later, though we are getting to see them in their twilight years, they have definitel given us some excitement, and some good pitching, and hopefully passed on some wisdom to our young guys like Backe and Oswalt. But how do we replace the hole in our pitching rotation that occurs when Clemens and Pettite both hang up their spikes for good this time?

Who do we have waiting in the wings? As far as I can tell, looking at the Round Rock Express, there isn't much waiting there.

(For those who do not know...The Round Rock Express is the Astros AAA affiliate in Round Rock, Texas - a northern suburb of Austin.) What I am basically saying is I don't see much in our farm system to get all excited about.

Oswalt was a product of our farm system, and I watched him from seats in the Dell Diamond in 2002 and part of 2003, if memory serves...it has been a while. But I haven't seen another guy since who looked as good as Oswalt.

Then again, the media is the only way for me to look at the Round Rock team, now that I no longer live in Austin.

So, what's the scoop? You see anything down there in Round Rock to get excited about?? Because I don't.

And are there any good prospects on some free agents? If so, how likely are we to sign any of them, Drayton McClain being as miserly as he is?

Sorry, truth hurts...we coulda had Beltran this year, too, but McClain let him go. But, while I can't blame Carlo$ for wanting to make more money...I still wish he'd have accepted a bit less and stayed with us. Thje beautiful part of it, though, is that Carlo$ got his more money, and he's watching the Series from his couch. How's the view, Carlo$??

Sincerely, I am praying for a 'Stros-Sox Series, with the Sox winning in extra innings in the seventh game...because I honestly love both teams. I just love the Sox a bit more, having been a fan of them longer.

All the same, once we GET our pennant, and I sincerely am praying for it to be tomorrow night, this one will be for J.R. Richard!!

Go, 'Stros!!!

History says you're correct ... the Astros are the very definition of the term "choke" .... but, then again, nobody thought the Cubs would win either ...

So there's hope!
