Conservatives - Who's Sorry Now??

I've seen a lot of Conservatives, recently, admitting that they hate Bush and wish McCain had been President instead.

And so, this one's for you:

Not sorry yet, or likely to be.... I guess if Roberts and Miers come down to the left of Ginsburg, I'd have to admit disappointment... but so far, I'm cool. :)

I am starting to regret my previous support of Bush. I am no longer associated with him, due to the threat of lynching if you support Bush in my area. Everything has gone done the drain.

No, I've heard bits and pieces of it.

I imagine that this "Connie Francis" woman is quite hot.

I'm neither conservative nor Republican, but the alternatives to GWB were Al Gore, who thought he invented the frakking Internet, and a glory-hound swabbie who decided to turn against his brothers. Given the sort of idiots the Dems come up with, I'll take the lesser of the evils.

Oh please, for the love of God...

This is one of the biggest crocks of shit the GOP has ever perpetuated. Taken in context, Al Gore's statements on the matter was something along the lines of "I took the initiative in creating the internet division of the White House" or somesuch government agency related to it. Al Gore, not having been a researcher at MIT or a http: developer, did not create the internet, and he knows it. As much as I despise the Democrats, I have to give Gore this much credit. Politicans regularly remove the context of thier opponents quotations to make them look stupid. This is a prime example.

One more time: Gore never claimed he invented the internet. Anyone who thinks he actually said that needs to get their head out of the sand.

What if General Wesley Clarke hadn't pulled outta the race? Would you have supported him?

I mean, I think the whole skirmish with him and Russia was exaggerated.

Besides, if he'll almost start a war with Russia, WHAT DO YOU THINK HE'LL DO TO TERRORISTS?!? :D

He said ""During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet." Technically, even that's somwhat of a stretch but does reflect the fact that Gore did do a lot to modernize and expand the laws to better facilitate and modernize the internet.

No, they should've just gotten him slightly drunk before the debates.

When they made fun of him for inventing the internet, he'd sigh like a little girl, and then whine about how his feelings were hurt.

Whereas, if Gore had a shot or five of brandy, he'd have said, "You know what? FUCK YOU! I'm the Vice President. That means I get to take credit for HALF of everything that gets accomplished in this country, fucker! And that's capitalism! And if you don't like that, you god damn Communist, you can move to move to fucking CHINA!"

And he'd have gotten a mandate.

That sounds exactly like the post 2000 Gore. Not the pre--2000 Gore that had to leave the room because he drank too much iced tea.

The main things I don't like about GWB is his dealings with the border, immigration (especially illegal immigration), him spending too much, and not using our air power against the terrorists in Iraq to save the lives of our own men. I guess one could say that he is too liberal for me. We might as well have gotten a diet Gore with a little bible-talk.

One more time this is exactly what he said, so you might dig your own out of where ever it is stuck.

"During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet" Gore said when asked to cite accomplishments that separate him from another Democratic presidential hopeful, former Sen. Bill Bradley of New Jersey, during an interview with Wolf Blitzer on CNN on March 9, 1999.

The most amazing thing about it is that the internet was already created and in use before he ever had anything to do with congress.

The internet as we know it did not. The internet that you are refering to was almost completly the domain of rocket scientists. Al Gore's "boast" was largely justified, just like when he claimed that the character in "Love Story" was based on him (it was an amalgam of him and Tommy Lee Jones). Legislation that he was a part of had a lot to do with things like the US owning so much of the internet, and now controling so much of the global flow of information. And promoting it as a commercial entity, not strictly a military defense project.

Al Gore never said he invented the internet. You have to know that by now, Eut. He said he was instrumental in pushing for the military Arapnet system to be converted to public use...which he was.

Kerry didn't turn on his brothers, they turned on him because he dared to speak out against the Whitehouse, accusing him of blaming the soldiers is like blaming a lawyer for his client's crime...but he was a pushover and a disappointment and I wish someone else had been the Dem candidate.

Wait a minute. Stating fact in context is like a mother defending her child, but whining, "but Clinton!" isn't? Hmm. Oh, and when Bush posts incompetent toadies to important posts, it's not his fault. When Bush says "is our children learning?" that's okay, but when Gore says something that's absolutely correct (if a bit egocentric,) it's not? When Bush says he would deal with any leakers (not convicted criminals,) and doesn't follow through, that's okay. When Bush says Iraq is a danger and it isn't, that's okay too. Oh, but utter the word "lockbox" and let eternal damnation fall upon Gore like molten lead!

Denial, denial, denial, denial. Bush is never responsible for anything, but Gore should burn in hell for saying he took the initiative in creating the internet (when, in a political sense, no one else did more,) it's not.

What a sad defense mechanism. Pathetic, really.
