What branch should I join? Marines, army, or navy?

Do you want to fight in Iraq? If not I would suggest the Navy.

Well, I need more info. What is your GPA in school? What do you want to do? (shoot a gun, fly a plane, drive a tank, etc.) Do you plan on going to college after?

Depends what you're looking for: If you're looking for the biggest academic challenge that will generate the most college credits, go Navy.

If you're looking for adventure and travel, well all three have their own brands of that.

CHeck into common staitionings and duty assignments. It'll give you an idea of what to expect in the way of travel.

I wouldn't mind fighting, but its not somthing I would hop to it. The navy is a little iffy, it takes almost a year to get your orders, and promotions come slower. (The only reason its in there is if i see a really good reason i missed, that some one may point out)

I am going through my first semester in collage, and was home schooled. So i don' t have a gpa yet. I was planning on medical. I have been told by several people who been in the military, to go in a job that has little training, and use the GI bill to pay for collage and goto a colllage I live around. They all went in as what feild they were chasing after, and were surpassed by those who went in as infintry, or somthing simple. I mainly ask because I hope to see somthing i missed. Choice # one was been army, but i do not know if marines or navy might have somthing going for them that i do not see. ( don't have much time to live in this house, i am to be kicked out after my first year after finishing grade skool.

I have no basis for comparison, as I was only in the Navy and can't compare how quickly I was promoted vs. others. But I went into the Navy as an E-3 due to previous college credit. I took a very technical field with a 'guaranteed crow'. What that meant was when you're finished with the schools, you immediately become an E-4. I believe some of the nuclear fields guarantee an E-5.

I went to the fleet as an E-4. I was eligible for the E-5 test one year later. I took it and made E-5 on my first try. Then came the dry spell. Due to circumstances, It was almost 4 years before I could take the E-6 test. I took it and passed. Four months later, my term of service was up.

*shrug* I really didn't consider it all that slow except for a missed opportunity to take the E-6 test a year earlier.

Coast Guard all the way. That way you're actually helping guard and protect our homeland.

What branch should I join? Marines, army, or navy?I'd say join the Canadian navy ;) . You get the best training there plus you don't have to go to Iraq. You might end up in Afghanistan but it's better than Iraq.

The army has a green to gold program too. (Enlisted to offecer in 2-3 years) I'm not sure if other branches have that. And i aint gunna listen to hippie babble, war is part of human nature.

Why not air force? From my limited knowledge, they easily have the best quality of life out of all three branches (more specifically, you're not normally stuck living on a boat or in the mud).

Personally, I'm toying with the idea of going into the army, but it'd be as an o-3, so it's an entirely different ballgame than what you're looking at. Just remember, recruiters will tell you anything and everything to get you to sign on the dotted land -- try to get the real skinny on things before you go enlisting.

College = school. Collage = an artistic composition made of various materials (as paper, cloth, or wood) glued on a surface.

Air force, lest promotions, its crowded, takes a year to a year in a half to get in to. I am not asking my recruiters, i am asking people i know to be in the in the military. One is in the air force, hes a relitave. The other is in the army, he says every one gets promoted fast, but he hasn't been in for long. My step dad is the navy man, and they lay off a lot of people from what I hear. And the marines, no source, but i hear they also get promoted fast.
