Where's the nationstates venom I've come to know and love?

While I try to be reasonable (most of the time :D ,) I am often entertained by the viscious interplay between the rabid right and the hydrophobic (another term for rabid...not meant literally as a fear of water,) left. Are we running low on wingnuts or something? The relative quiet from the right (aside from religious discussion,) is especially noticeable. Is this because of a certain loss of esprit de corps?

I've grown weary of those threads, so I don't participate in them that much. It has a lot to do with me being so very, very tired of boring US centric discussions about their bloody constitution, and president, and affirmative actions, and amendments, and congresses, and outdated social politics, and puritanical repression and you name it.

I just realised one day I didn't care about the US, and, well, this whole "left vs. right" crap came to an end for me. I think it's because the people who are into the "left vs. right" thing here are often USian and cannot seem to deal with it in other terms than US-centric ones, because of ignorance, or perhaps because of the same sort of non-interest that I have in their myopia.

Well, people tend to post about/notice things that concern where they live. I have a feeling that Americans are a plurality here, so that probably causes the imbalance...either that or a lot of my fellow Americans are whiney bizznatches...which is possible as well.

As this is primarily a political forum, I would like to see more informative (and venom-filled :D ,) posts about other countries' political laundy. I only rarely see a german political thread, and sometimes an Australian one. So come on, rest of the world, what pisses you off about politics in your country?

It's more than just the old left right. This thread on the atomic bombing Hiroshima (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=449306) has gone 44 posts and is still being discussed reasonably. Usually that's a topic that explodes in the first 20 or so posts. On the otherhand, the farm subsidies thread went straight to hell after I commented that everyone seemed to be playing nice and (amazingly ) AGREEING - left and right. So the Hiroshima thread should explode any time now...

I think it has a lot to do with people who can't figure out how to access the forums when the "Forums" link on NS doesn't work.

These things come in cycles, you know. Like abortion debates, and the creationism and religion threads, etc.

In a couple of weeks at the most, it'll be back with a vengeance, as usual. :D

Yeah, maybe... :)

And then there's this thread (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=449379) essentially complaining about all the unreason here. Different measures.

Thank you. I'm American and got some flak for calling a few of my fellows out on this but it's true. Our political forums don't usually have etiquette rules so people are free to flame/troll/etc to their hearts' content. That's one of the reasons I like the Jolt forums. Some of them have corrupt moderators but at least there's no allout flamewar consuming them night and day.

Well well, Captain Asshattery, God forbid any of the mods should take their job seriously. I appreciate Euro's efforts to take the responsibility seriously given that it's quite a bitch to moderate forums and can take up a significant portion of one's day. I spend hours at a time GMing over on Particracy.net and its forums, and that game's tiny. I can only imagine the kind of effort it takes to do the same for a game like NationStates and a fresh new face in moderation willing to tackle the task with enthusiasm is a good thing... Besides, I'm not quite sure what to make of your self-destructive streak with the antagonism of moderation staff. Their word is scripture because they've been trusted to do the job right, so what's the use of browbeating them?
