48 percent want Democratic-controlled Congress
In addition, with 13 months until the 2006 congressional elections, 48 percent say they prefer a Democratic-controlled Congress, compared with 39 percent who want the Republicans to control Capitol Hill. In fact, that nine-point difference is the largest margin between the parties in the 11 years the NBC/Journal poll has been tracking this question.

Now here is some fairly significant evidence that the woes of the Republican party is translating to political red meat. Is this a flash in the pan, and what can the Republicans do to stem the tide? Will the Democrats manage to fumble it yet again? Will the Republicans continue to falter.

Tune in next week, same country, same bumpkin running it.

I have been wondering lately if there is a significant portion of the population who are feeling guilty or betrayed concerning their vote in 2004.

Sounds like a good idea for a NS poll. How many Bush voters have changed their mind now? The world wants to know (or at least I do.)

Not very many, considering we are all socialists and libertarians of some degree.

Those Bush voters that do come to NS obviously have a huge appetite for punishment and so would be unlikely to lose their high regard for Bush. Every screw up is just another reason to love him.

Judging from the constant "Liberal This" "Democrat That" and "Cindy Sheehan Must Die" statements on NS, I would have guessed a whole lot.

Those are the same three members spouting the same sentiment over and over and over.

the republicans already did what they needed to do when the gerrymandered the congressional districts. there wont be a big change in 06 no matter how low their poll numbers go.

While you're probably right, Ashmoria, there are still situations where you can have large pickups by a party. In 1994, the Republicans picked up a retarded number of seats in the House riding a wave of momentum that was powered by legitimate charges of corruption in the House among leading Democrats. It's possible, if there are indictments coming from Fitzgerald that hammer the White House and if the DeLay indictments hold and the corruption charges coming out of Ohio keep getting smellier that there could be another one of those waves. It's not likely, I'll admit it, but in my fondest dreams, I hear the voice of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi gaveling the House to order.

The Conservatives make the threads. We break them.

And not all of us are libertarians and socialists. I'm a centrist.

I don't trust those polls one bit. Mainly because people are more apt to vote against somthing than with. Ohh, I also saw a poll on fox news, Where do you prefer to get your news from.... its on there web sight so i would guess the poll ended in their favour.

Hey, I may be a wakko, and a conservitave, but that doesn't make me a wakko conservitave. It's just that, those polls are kinda iffy from my view. I see anti bush people protest bush all the time. But I never see pro bush people out side the white house cheering him on, or at lest not large armys of them. And thats because if its your way, why fight about it?

Of course they are. Why do you think that Bush supporters are such angry people? They're like closet homosexuals who act super-homophobic to cover it up.

Ah, but the poll got people to say who they'd rather have in Congress, and the Dems had a 9 point lead. Considering people had to either vote for Republicans or for Democrats (or neither,) that kinda kills you "vote against" theory.

Also realize that instant internet polls are in no way scientific, whereas the methodology of the major polls is scientific. If you look at the internet polls actually on Msnbc and CNN, they tend to be even more weighted against conservatives.

When Air America first came on the air Janneane Garofalo's show urged listeners to spam FOX polls. My favorite such occaision was the "Should Reagan be put on the $10 bill?" poll. The poll was 90% yes when her show started. Then by the time her show went off the air it was 76% no. By the following morning FOX had replaced the poll with one that asked "Should Reagan's face be put on the 5, the 10, or the 20?" They haven't bothered spamming FOX polls since the election though.:(
