Balloons!!!
A fairly technical question, regarding helium baloons.
As my thoughts were running randomly the other day, as they have a tendency to do, I got myself upon the topic of inhaling helium from balloons to make your voice high-pitched.
I got to wondering...what would be the most efficient way to draw out the squeaky voice effect as long as possible?
Is it better to take a fast, deep breath, or to breathe the helium in slowly and evenly?
Would it be better to expel the helium right away, or hold it in as long as possible?
When exhaling, would it be best to force the helium out as quickly as possible, or let all the gas out gradually.
Comments please. :)
Well I think it would probably be best to inhale it rapidly and hold it in your lungs for a few seconds then expel it rapidly.

Holding it in will not help. Its how the helium affects your vocal cords, not your lungs. Best effects would come from long slow inhale, and long slow exhale.

The way to make it last the longest is to inflate your deflated lung with the pressurized helium...:cool:
Of course, you have to start with a deflated lung first and from what I hear, that's like a HUGE pain in the side...:(
Perhaps it's better to just start with a really big balloon and do it lots of time :D

Fill the room with an 80% helium and 20% oxygen gas mixture and you can probably talk funny for as long as you remain in that room.
