Ok figured I would put a warning out (I have not seen this done one general so if I violate some sort of rule let me know)
New Variant of Vundo spreading by AIM (and roumers of MSN and P2P networks as well)
Do NOT click on ANY link sent to you by anyone on your friends list
As of now the new variant is not removable by SAV NAV MacAfee TrendMicro (scanner and PC-Cillin)
Just figured I would let you all know
Complex removal directions right now manualy ... if anyone needs them let me know
(this ones bad enough to warrent a warning)
Anyways if anyone wants to discuss virus theory that would be cool with me too :)

Why doesn't the UN make itself usefull and set up a police force that will pursue virus and malware writers into any nation where they might try to hide and castrate them with rusty hedge clippers?

They could start with spammers as far as I am concerned, but most live in the US and hide behind the Constitution. The US could end the spamming problem by arresting a hundred guys on its own territory.
Someone else will probably fill the gap somewhere else, but that comes afterwards, so the US may as well do it part. But no. Sending my oldest account 1000 messages per day offering wire fraud opportunities is Free Speech.

It's a load of bollocks. Since it got passed, I have heard of one prosecution. I thought the US had a decent electronic surveilance and cyberwarfare capability? The top 150 offenders have already been identified by internet security companies.

What do we do if the person in question is female? Historectomy with the same rusty clippers?

As long as I can still have the hysterectomy I don't mind if they decide to use genetically-modified-to-be-carnivorous leafcutter ants.
This of course means I have to go learn how to code viruses first.

It seems that you're not very attatched to your uterus, or maybe you're more attatched to it than you would like.

Maybe I was born too late to understand this... But, I watched the whole thing and I still don't get it. Could someone please explain?

My sister got a virus (likely the one you're talking about) via AIM. Someone sent her a link with the word "photo" in the URL (well, the virus did), accompanied with the text "mine's the best hehehe". When you go to the link, it asks you to d/l it. I didn't do it, because it seemed bloody odd for a site to want me to d/l a pic, instead of just displaying it. This didn't occur to her, so she got it. I went on her computer, and seemed to clear it all up. Though her friend formatted her own HDD in order to remove it. *rolls eyes*

This has to be the smartest virus ever because chances are that 90% of AIM users are too dumb to not click on any sort of link they see flying at them, even if it said "I am a virus, please click me to destroy your computer."

Brand new varent
See you have to understand I work on a campus of 4 thousand students (just staying on campus) 15 k total
Last year I got to submit 4 new viruses (8 varients) to symantec from our facility ALONE
Large lans like ours tend to catch things
I expect symentec to come up with an update in 1-2 days
