Hi all. I am thinking about getting a vasectomy and while I feel very comfortable with what I have read so far on the topic, I have also heard some horror stories.

Please post any tips, or experience that you may have on the subject.

Thanks. :D

Have you had any children yet? It's irreversible, you know.

I had it done. My wife was strangely interested in the swelling of my testicles.

You might find this entertaining though.
When I went for my consultation with my surgeon, he said that he would recommend a local anaesthetic rather than general. Mild discomfort was what he reckoned I would experience. No worse than a dental filling. He also mentioned that he'd had the op too. And there's always a risk with a general blah, blah, blah......

When I went into the theatre, he injected both of the tubes leading to the testicles. Pretty sore, but he was right, no worse than a visit to the dentist. But still sore.

When I was coming out of the theatre, I mentioned that it was a bit painful, and did he find the same when he had his done?

The swine grinned at me and said "Actually, I had a general. Can't abide needles...." :)

Nah, he was a good bloke really. And he was right. A bit sore at the time, but a couple of paracetamol and a good night's sleep and I was brand new. The only time I've had a general I felt like death warmed up for about a week.

Still a cheeky git though.

My dad had the big V after i was born (no suprises there then) and he said it was quick and painless, straight in, snip, and off back to work within 5 minutes.
My uncle had an operation to reverse it and he could barely walk for a week and it didnt work.

Save some sperm. Trust me. Later on down the road you may want to help out a nice Lesbian couple.

Make sure the surgeon doesn't have shakey hands.

If any part of you is curious about reversal, then don't do it.

According to the Vet, you'll probably become more complacent and less likely to roam.

No shaky hands, drug problems and ask to see what he got on his last eye test.

Also lessen your interest in sniffing other mens and dogs arses too.
So not all bad.
