I. The fundamental factor that allows time travel to exist at all is the concept of multiple universes caused by every decision anything or anyone makes.
a. A time machine would have first estimate how many versions of the future there are based on how many possible decisions could be made in allotted time between the present and moment in future that is wanted to go to. This would give traveler an idea on how possible it is that the future would be extremely different then time is now, i.e. "Nuclear Holocaust." A future would then be randomly chosen.
b. A traveler could go back into the past from the future. First the traveler would have to go to one decision after he left, otherwise the future wouldn't exist. This decision has an outcome and the outcome that the future the traveler is in cannot be returned to. The traveler must go to the other outcome which results in another future or else that future's time stream is polluted with knowledge of itself. This means that everything the traveler saw isn't the future but instead the future of another universe.
c. To proceed backwards in time a decision would have to be found that differs from the time stream that the traveler exists in. The traveler then would not necessarily be in the past, but more in an almost exact replica of the past. Then to return to the point he left he simply uses a return remote that places him to where he left. This idea is essentially the same as B but backwards.

This shows A in action. The red dot is the present and the red line points to the future that the time machine takes the traveler to.

This shows B in action. The dark red shows where in the future the traveler is. The red lines and dots show the time stream of that version of history. The light blue dot shows where the traveler should end up to avoid a paradox. The dark blue show alternatives.

The dark red shows the present, and the red dots and lines show the flow of time since the beginning of it to the present. The dark blue is where the traveler goes in place of the past and the blue is a new time flow that results.
