What do you think about the tabloids?

Personally, I hate the ones about celeberties because that shit is just boring but the ones that are completely made up, well I can't help but laugh at them. Otherwise, I ignore them. What about you?

i dont pay much attention to them and i never buy them
but i do enjoy looking at the cover of the weekly world news. it often makes me laugh outloud in the checkout line.
i also like the enquirer (or whatver) issues that have photos of the stars without makeup. its nice to be reminded that no one looks like that without make up and airbrushing.
Are we talking about papers using the tabloid page size format or just gossip rags?

I've taken to buying and reading the Weekly World News lately. Not much celebrity stuff, but I love reading about the flying plants and the adventures of Miss Adventure, the Gayest American Hero.

I like the tabloids because it gives the simple individual an opinion rather than the educated individuals who take in world news and form an opinion about them. Who cares frankly about what one so called celebrity looks like out of makeup? Not I, but it gives all those individuals who can't bear their self-esteem load a chance to say well hey everyone looks like that so i dont feel to bad abotu myself. Simply it gives the common person entertainment and an escape from real life

My hatred for the tabloid press is ruthless. All of it falls into a couple of categories:
1) Dumbing down readers with shite.
2) Trashing celebrities for no good reason, other than sadism. (Kate Moss being a prime example.)
3) Right-wing brainwashing. (think Der Bild and the Murdoch media)

I don't see why some girls/women (and lets be honest, almost no males read this) need to constantly be reminded of that fact. Got insecurity issues?

That's pretty much my view. The only good thing about them is that they are the right size to read.

ever hear a young man look at a pic of a gorgeous celebrity and say "what a dog!"?
when beautiful women are constantly put down for their looks what does that leave the average woman to think of her looks?
if brittney spears is a dog then i should be scaring small children on the street.

or, going the other way
if your boyfriend is constantly going on and on about how gorgeous brittney spears is, and you look in the mirror and see that you certainly dont look as beautiful, its good to find out that brittney spears actually looks like a nice young woman, nothing special, out of her makeup and airbrushing.
The funniest thing I've ever read was in the Sun (owned by Rupert Murdoch) one day. It was a column about how great it was that cricket, or some sport, was going all pay per view on Sky Sports (owned by...guessed yet?....yes, that's right...Rupert Murdoch!), completely ignoring the fact that it means alot of people who don't have Sky can't watch it anymore.

I personally wouldn't read a tabloid if my choice was between it and, say, the instruction manual for my microwave. However, I guess some people can find it entertaining...junk food for the brain. Kinda like "pro" wrestling.
Tabloids are jokes. Nothing more. Then again, so is the Daily Mail.

What about you?I read about Europe's biggest, the BILD. I said about. Nothing is going to get me to spend money on what is guaranteed to be innaccurate, emotionalized, or false information.

I watch pro "wrestling" from time to time as well.
