Anyone else find chocolate addictive?

I have found for the past month that I can't go a day without eating some chocolate. I am decidedly addicted. It's mostly organic dark chocolate that I'm eating (it's the best), so the health is not too adversely affected. Has anyone else found this to be?

Chocolate isn't readily available to me by my own doing. I feel I would gain a lot of weight if there were always boxes of chocolate in my house. I have never felt addicted to chocolate, but it tastes so damn good :D

Hmmm... Obscure Euthyphro reference. One point for TG!

Anyway, Dark chocolate is the SHIT!

Wow, chocolate... I actually get withdrawals when I go too long without it.

Nothing beats a huge chocolate bar. Nothing.

Yet another one of the many areas where we have little in common. Chocolate is all well and good but if I eat too much of it, I am liable to get horrendously ill. It blocks up my insides something fierce if I eat too much. If I eat so much as one Reese's Fastbreak, I feel like I just put on an additional 25 pounds.

I think that my Tolkien addiction is the only thing we share in common, Melkor.

Well, aside from various physical similarities yes, I imgaine this is probably the case. Strange, isn't it?

Dark chocolate is my favorite, followed by pure cocoa. But I limit myself by eating the good stuff only a few times a year. I either have it as chocolate mousse, or have it delivered to me from a few places in New York every Christmas.

I don’t usually eat chocolate, but when I do, I can’t stop.

There have been studies proving that chocolate boosts the mood lifting chemicals in your brain stimulated when a person is enamored/engaging in intercourse...
but personally, I think it's just the hard to shake addiction for refined sugars once you start eating them...

Yes! It has caffeine, a noted addictive, so no one should be surprised. I also eat the same chocolate (which we have to order special) and I can't stand the mass produced crap put out there under the guise of good chocolate.

(Did any of you know that drugs which fight the craving for heroin also fight the craving for chocolate?)

Not so much chocolate. But to Tic Tacs. If I have one of those light green (Almost teal) tic tacs (Spearmint I think), I can't stop eating them. I'll go to the store and buy a six pack and keep eating them til I run out of containers.......

Some caffeine, but much more theobromine. That's what people get addicted to.

I love white chocolate best, followed very closely by milk chocolate. I don't care for dark chocolate too much, it's too bitter for my taste.

Isn't that supposed to mimic an endorphin release or something?

Nahh... darker the better. In fact, I like making a cold raw cocoa beverage with only enough sugar to take the edge off. It's quite a rush - not like a coffee buzz, but quite heady.

Bullshit.

You CAN go a day without eating some chocolate. It's just you happen not to like whatever the effects of that are. "Cravings" no doubt. That isn't addiction. That's just being a pussy about one's choices.

Same with cigarette smokers. They have, at most, what? one day of headaches? And they can't cope with it? Whining nonsense. I don't have any pity for people "trying" to quit anything. Either do it or don't, quit trying to make your lack of self control into a disease of martyrdom!
