What is breakfast to you?

Dobbsworld

Is it a huge meal (http://www.flyingchair.net/images/big_breakfast.jpg)?

Is it a light snack (http://i.timeinc.net/cooking/images/2000/0011p134_m.jpg)?

Does it come with coffee (http://www.theage.com.au/ffximage/2005/07/10/beans_1107.jpg)? A danish (http://twiggs.org/images/763-raspberry-danish.jpg)? Is there a particular food item that you crave on your breakfast plate? Something other (http://www.infocusphotos.com/gallery/Asst/images/1Ring-tailed%20Lemur.JPG) than what is usually considered a bit of standard morning fare? Tell us all about it.

What is your ideal breakfast (http://www.humour.com/images/images/happy_breakfast.jpg)?

Pancakes or waffles with too much maple syrup. Bacon, barely cooked. Greasy hash browns. Very chocolatey chocolate milk.

Do I sound American?

I eat the same breakfast every morning and I wouldn’t have it any other way.:
A protein smoothie
Egg whites
Butter and Jelly on an English Muffin
A bowl of plain yogurt with honey mixed in for flavor

My ideal breakfast? Hmm... 2-3 cups of strong tea, either a fry with bacon, beans and hush browns, or else toast and honey, maybe a grapefruit as well.
Can't wait till tomorrow morning! ;)

ideal breakfast: full english (minus the mushrooms), with extra hash browns and american-style pancakes. bacon burned to a crisp... yummy :P

I don't get it very often but my favorite is "southern" breakfast:

scrambled eggs, bacon, ham, fried potatoes, grits and buttermilk bisquits with sausage gravy - YUMM!

I had the "full English" while visiting the UK, it was pretty good too :)

I'll reply to my own thread:

Dobbsworld's ideal brekkie:

Bacon (pork-belly strips, not peameal bacon)
Scrambled eggs (blended with worcestershire sauce, cracked black peppercorns, herbes provencale, scotch bonnet pepper sauce, garlic salt, fresh-cut chives and a dollop of half-and-half <10%mf> cream)
Baked beans in molasses (not in tomato sauce - blechh.)
Farmer's sausage/bangers (more or less depending on the relative amounts of bacon available)
Bacon (did I mention bacon?)
Light-roasted coffee ("Breakfast blend" usually)
Fresh-squeezed orange juice (definitely not from concentrate)
Montreal-style poppyseed bagel with whipped cream cheese (smoked salmon optional)
Sliced tomato with pepper and salt (no, not grilled. Blechh.)

And then an after-breakfast nap, while someone else washes the dishes.

Now that's what I call ideal.

Normally, breakfast for me consists of:

either
a) a cereal bar
b) (cold) cereal with soymilk
c) an omelette
d) Nothing, I'll anyway eat a whole lot for lunch

What would be ideal:

French toast and/or thin pancakes, with orange juice, perhaps an omelette. I'm not picky. :D

Black pudding (:) a favourite of mine)

Monday through Thursday breakfast is a fat-free yogurt and fat free milk.
Friday morning it is an everything bagel with cream cheese, sliced lox, a large coffee and a pint of grapefruit juice.

Saturday it might be a bowl of cereal or, if I go out, eggs, bacon, toast, juice.
Sunday most likely to be leftovers slapped on bread, or cold pizza.

Cold pizza rocks. So does leftover pork fried rice.

I almost forgot - pierogies are are also fine breakfast fare, especially with fried onions and sour cream.

I'm seeing a lone figure stalking out of the post-apocalyptic wastelands, twitching slightly with half a mugful of cold Taster's Choice gripped in one hand, rummaging through the wreckage of a Price Chopper store in search of packets of sugar, for some reason...

give it a couple of years, and i probably may cause that to happen, though you should replace the names with australian equivalents.

Ah well, I'm crap with name brands in any case. Hell, for all I know Taster's Choice is as relevant to instant coffee as Kik is to cola.

I'm seeing a lot of American/European breakfasts here. To break the monotony, here's what I'd like.

Hot plate noodles. A plate of crispy noodles in a thick egg soup topped with roast pork and fresh stir fried vegetables, garnished with fried onions. Takes about 10-15 minutes to cook with ingredients on hand and lasts a good while. Yummy.

Coffee. Instant. Very Strong. No food, can't cope with food. Maybe a banana after 11.

At weekends and special occasions I might manage a fry-up for brunch. Given that brunch might be 2pm or so.
