Alcohol, that is. Two smirnoff's and a Heineken. I was with my friends, we got a 6 pack of both brands(they have drank before, I hadn't).

I don;t really know why I'm posting this... Maybe just to say its good :)

Though the heineken tasted like shit, as did the smirnoff(but compared to the heineken, it was great... I didn't need a chaser for the smirnoff).

Suffice it to day, I am quite buzzed.

By smirnoff, do you mean straight vodka, or the lemonade type drinks? If you mean the latter, which I suspect you do, then as AllCoolNamesAreTaken said, they are generally regarded as a girls drink. This is fine if you are a girl, and also as a first drink (because they taste like lemonade), but otherwise they are probably not the coolest thing to drink (not that I don't drink them occasionally myself). Also, note that despite their taste, they are actually quite high in alcohol, so be careful with them.

Alcohol is HIGHLY overrated. If you have to try it a few times before it "get's good," then it wasn't good in the first place. I'm not Muslim, but I think they were on to something with banninating alcohol.
In moderation, it may have beneficial effects, but it is still a vile drink. Saying it can help with heart disease is little better than saying speed helps you lose weight.
If you're drinking just to get drunk, STOP DRINKING. For the love of all that you hold dear, put down the booze and never touch the stuff again. Alcohol already destroys enough lives every day.

I remember the first time I got drunk...I tried to walk down the stairs after thowing up in the bathroom...slipped, rolled down teh stairs and right into a window (The stairs turn to the right about 3/4 of the way down, cause a window is there). Needless to say, I broke the window, rolled out of the house, and landed in the yard (maybe a 6 foot drop). Friends were all laughing at me, and then I passed out and woke up in the same spot the next morning. Mainly due to the yelling of my friend for breaking his window.

My first time drinking was when me and my cuz got bored so i went to get some wine from the dining room (i was.. 12 i think) didnt get buzzed.. that i remember. the first time i got drunk was awesome. i couldnt walk and the room was spinning. i actualy called my brother (who was upstairs) to come help me get to my room. he didnt. so i kept drinkin. god i love getting drunk.

Ahh. First times. Well, actually.. I'm not sure if that's your first time with alcohol or first time getting drunk. I think I first drunk alocohol when I was very young. Growing up in a NZ family (my mum was brought up on a diary farm) it isn't unusual to have sips of wine and beer from a young age. I can sort of remember the first time I got fully drunk, as it is with most first times. I started with about 5-6 'DB's which is a New Zealand beer. Then my gf decided vodka shots were in order. It was cheap nasty stuff, but I had about 6-7 shots (or so I've been told). It was great until I started throwing up. But it wasn't too bad I guess. The buzz was pretty awesome. Pretty happy my tolerance level is higher now though.

With 3 friends, I drank half a mickey of crown royal. J-walked across a highway. An hour or so later some cops asked if we had been drinking (there was about 15 of us now). Even though I was sitting on the side of the road, singing, swaying from my drunkeness the cops belived us when we said "No". Passed out on a bus-stop bench. My friend had to get my dad to drive me home. I woke up with a large scrape on my knee (from my friend trying to drag me home).

However, I see nothing wrong with people drinking socially, and nothing wrong with getting completely smashed on special occasions, it is fun, and helps you to have a good time (so long as you don't get violent or abusive, in which case you should know not to drink to that level).

Being drunk is not well associated with being even remotely intelligent.

[1] I've never tasted piss, but I know a few people who did, in a lager bottle, and it took them some time to realise the difference. It was piss from someone else who had already drunk quite a few lagers, and this may have helped.

Yeah, drink driving is a problem, that’s a fair point, people should arrange how they are getting home before they go out (or arrange to stay, which is usually fine for big parties).

I maintain, however, that there is nothing wrong with having a few drinks with friends. As for getting drunk, I think people have a problem if they do it all the time, but as I said, on occasion it is fine. There is nothing wrong with 'encouragement' to have a few drinks at a special occasion. What's wrong with having a bit of fun occasionally? Just work out how your getting home first!

Not if you drink responsibly. Restrictiosn on alcohol encourage irresponsible behaviour as a part of the "rebel" factor. Teens do not think there is a way to enjoy alcohol without access because the sort of Puritancial culture America has toward alcohol. Look at alcoholism rates and fatalities involving alcohol in countries like France where the drinking age is 16 as compared to America.

Think flavors, colors, and social norms and mores. Sweet fruity flavors are not "manly" in most western cultures. Colors are a bit more complex, but mostly bright colors aren't "manly" either.

Well, near as I can figure, and maybe this is just because I live in a college town with more bars than restaurants....

But it seems that the "girly" drinks are designed to go down quickly, easily, and cheaply. The liquor-based "girly" drinks (Fuzzy Navel, Sex on the Beach, etc.) also tend to have a rather high alcohol content. These factors, mixed with the constant social urging to drink quickly before the next round, then run out and dance (causing dehydration, resulting in quicker consumption) can cause women to get very drunk, very quickly, which is a boon to the average negative college-boy stereotype.

Meanwhile, "guy" drinks tend to be harsh, bitter, even painful to some small extent upon initial consumption. This seems to coincide with the common male stereotype as "tough" and "rugged". This further seems to encourage primative shows of dominance and prowess, often causing unintentional harm to onesself or passersby.

I don't drink personally, I've tried it and didn't enjoy it. It tastes bad and I don't particularly enjoy being drunk. However, I do enjoy laughing at my drunk friends doing stupid things. ;)

Alcohol, that is. Two smirnoff's and a Heineken. I was with my friends, we got a 6 pack of both brands(they have drank before, I hadn't).

I don;t really know why I'm posting this... Maybe just to say its good :)

Though the heineken tasted like shit, as did the smirnoff(but compared to the heineken, it was great... I didn't need a chaser for the smirnoff).

Suffice it to day, I am quite buzzed.

first of all, as someone did mention, men dont drink koolaid flavored drinks, ie zima and schmirnoff. those are drinks for girls who dont like the taste of alcohol. i know it was your first time; dont do it again.

second, you dont mix drink types. that is why the beer tasted bad. you drink beer OR wine OR mixed drinks. mixing them only gets you in trouble.

third, you did well to hold it to 3 drinks. you dont need to get puking drunk. its not good for your body or your judgement. remember that alcohol is a poison and can kill you (or cause you to kill yourself with stupid behavior)

learn to drink with class. its a skill that will help you in future social settings.

Oh, and simple advertising talked me into my generic beer of choice - Worthingtons. It's a man's drink. Plus it's £1.30 a pint in my halls bar, so...ftw.

its less fun to wake up in a holding cell in a pool of your own vomit and hoping you only got arrested for public intox, cuz you don't remember how you ended up there.... yeah, that was me awhile back... don't drink anymore, but i'll always have(or sometimes lack) the memories.Hey, that's just like me a few weeks ago!

In response to the original poster, I have to agree. Drinking is good, drinking is great, just be careful not to to anything illegal while intoxicated. "I was drunk" is not an acceptable excuse to most police/parents. Trust me, I've tried.
