One of the reasons "under god" was added to the US pledge was because without it, it sounded almost exactly like the Soviet pledge.

If we're playing "Which evil country has the best national anthem", I vote the for Horst Wessel Lied.

I wonder if the USSR stole the USA's anthem, or vice versa?

I dont know, but Russia uses that tune to their current anthem, they just changed the words.

I prefer the Internationale :D

Ah, the Soviet anthem... I didn't know the words (thank you for that!) but the tune is beautiful. To the point that it's been re-instated as modern Russia's anthem.

In my humble opinion, the Russian anthem is the most beautiful in the world, closely followed by that of Isreal.

Yeah, the Russian national anthem is great. But the Italian one is good too, and any French marching song (the Marseillaise, the Internationale) rocks.
