That's right! Can you name the top ten kings of Sweden? Surely you know what Sweden is. It's Fass's homeland. Extra points if you can point out all of the spelling and grammatical errors in this post.

Unfortunately, I am not well versed in the Swedish monarchy. I should learn more about Sweden in general, since I'm part Swedish, I'd like to know more about where my mom's family came from. Also, Sweden is just that cool anyway.
I can name the three most recent kings of Norway, though. But that doesn't count for anything to Swedes, because I've heard Swedes think Norwegians are rather provincial and funny.

No. Next question please.
*Feels ashamed* I can only name the top one: Gustavus Adolphus the Great, the Lion of the North, the only swedish king ever to be granted the title "the Great".
Can YOU name the top ten hospodars of Moldavia? We each have our limitations...

Give me three hours and you'll have your list.

What criteria will you use for selecting them?

I will put their names on cards and my pet hamster will select them.

The #1 KoS IMO was Gustav Adolphus II - he of modern battle tactics. Tended to lead from the front.
The rest I really haven't read much about.

Zlad!
Ok, more stereotypes, please.

Mmmh... let's see...
Olaf
Gustav
Larry.
Nope, only three.
1568-1592 Johan III
1592-1599 Sigismund
1599-1611 Karl IX
1654-1660 Karl X
1660-1697 Karl XI
1697-1718 Karl XII
1809-1818 Karl XIII
1818-1844 Karl XIV
1859-1872 Karl XV
1973- Carl XVI GUSTAF
I think I chose these because Karl is a great name for a Swedish king...there were fifteen of them.

Olaf - 0
Gustav - 1
Larry - 0
Well done. There are seven Gustaf though.
And that would be Charles XII, or Carolus Rex, also named 'Alexander of the North', Andaluciae.
Well, I'll go by monarchs, because we've had queens too, you know, but I guess the ten I enjoy reading most about are:
Queen Christina
Gustav II Adolf
Gustav III
Magnus Ladulås
Erik Segersäll
Karl XI
Gustav Vasa
Karl XII
Karl XIV Johan
Margareta Valdemarsdotter
My favourites are bolded.

Fass, why do you prefer Christina over her father?

She's a much more interesting person, I find. While her father accomplished a lot, lot more as a monarch, she intrigues me in ways he could never.

I see... She was not a stateswoman at all, I reckon, and her father was a great military chieftain etc.
I think it is the same for you with Gustav III, although I've read somewhere that he was a distinguished writer and orator.

Well, I couldn't even name Germany's top ten monarchs...Friedrich Barbarossa, Friedrich I. and II. of Prussia...of course Friedrich Wilhelm I. (hehe see a pattern emerging with the names?)
Meh, I'm not too good with that kind of thing. Plus Sweden's big time was in a period I don't care too much for...

Germany had monarch aplenty, nevertheless--all those sovereign duchies... They even provided us with a great empress named Catherine. :)

What name do you have in mind, the personal surname or the name of the royal house? :)

Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and Hanover are the names of the royal houses; when Queen Victoria asked what was her personal surname, the learned men after a prolonged investigation came with 'Wettin'. There is a minority that insists that Victoria was either 'Wipper' or 'd'Este'. :)
