It isn't that he isn't entertaining in a disturbing sort of way - it is more that I don't have time to read/reply to him.

Personally, I don't believe in an Ignore list.
I wasn't aware there was a feature for it. I utilize my own power of ignore, don't need a feature to do it for me.

I've got 4,max. The only reason I put anyone on there are the ones that REALLY, REALLY piss me off to the point that the mere mention of their names makes me twitch a bit.

I've never had one. I don't do it that formally. It's more like "oh... one of that guy's topics... I really don't feel like reading it."

there is only one person on my ignore list, and the only reason that person is there is because everything they say makes me really really really angry.

they have no idea who they are. I have never responded, I was running out of self conrtol in the "ignore it on my own" area so I put them on my ignore list. ;)

I wouldnt even know how to utilize the ignore function.
No one in here is capable of angering me to the point I need some safeguard to protect me.

Some are fun to watch, some are irritating... But the whole concept of letting one's emotions get the better of them to the extent that an ignore list would have to be used... This kind of frightens me.

Not really. It's more like turning off the radio or TV if you don't want to hear what is on it. That isn't censorship - it is deciding what you are and are not interested in hearing.

It is like choosing one book over another off the shelves. You aren't censoring the book you are uninterested in - you simply aren't interested in it.

This is true. Of course, only a few people have said anything about not being able to handle any words.

Ignore lists are rather useless. Why would you want to blind yourself to what someone says? You can ignore them by not replying to what they say without blinding yourself to their statements.

Personally, I don't have an ignore list, although I'm sure all the mods have me on ignore, except maybe Menelmacar (because I've never really met her). As well as a whole lot of other people. :D

I don't care really. I can rule the multiverse without their help. But if people do decide to ignore me, well... let's just say there'll be a lot of unexplained dead bodies found lying around sprinkled with violet petals...

2 people. One was a stalker that came after me through telegrams when (s)he noticed I was ignoring him/her, and the other was on the advice of a mod.

Both are no longer with us, I think, since the threads are all free of "this person is on you ignore list" posts.

I have never put anyone on an ignore list and I have never gone to Moderation to complain about any posters, even though I have been flamed, broiled and BBQed to a crisp.

I have very thick skin. I think it should be a requirement for NSers.

My feeling is that to put someone on an "ignore list" is to put yourself at their mercy since then they can say pretty much whatever they want without fear of your rebuttals. ^_^;

I don't think placing someone on "ignore" is the appropriate thing to do when they simply disagree with you, or even when they're posting total idiocy. When someone is clearly going beyond the bounds by flamming, trolling, or flame-baiting, they should be reported to the mods.

There's a few people I debated putting on 'ignore' but it's too much fun watching them dig their own graves, and some of the flame-age that they aquire is also quite entertaining.

I suppose the ignore feature is useful for when someone just gets so under your skin that you find yourself grinding your teeth every time you see that they've posted somewhere.

Having a toddler keeps me from getting that angry at anything anyone says here. Mostly I roll my eyes at the one's who annoy me.

As far as I can remember, I've only had one person on my ignore list, and that was for like five minutes before I took them off again. Several people have made it tempting for me to add their names by resorting to personal attacks, but I tend to leave them off the list because putting someone on my ignore list is something I see as a failure of self-discipline on my part.

I am against the idea of an ignore list. No-one is on mine. I am not afraid to look at anyone's posts.

Considering that most people add others for irrational reasons, when they are in a fit of anger, I don't see the point.

Well, I have seen a couple of threads where mods intervened when the flaming was clearly sarcastic or a joke. But the comments were quite a bit more serious than yours.

Well, I admit there were times when I would ignore posts by simply not reading them after they proved they had nothing of substance to say. There were certainly posters for whom I had no respect. I generally refrained from responding to them at all, but I didn't add them to my ignore list.
