I know I shouldn't call her right away, like tonight (I got it earlier today at school, by the way), but I don't know when exactly is it ok to call her. After 2 days? 3?

And how can I be sure that not calling her is the right thing?

Last time I, as a girl, gave my phone number away (my current SO) he waited until two nights later to call me. That's pretty much a pretty okay rule to follow....you won't seem too desperate, and it'll be just long enough to leave her in suspense and then relieve that tension. However, if you do this, do NOT break the rule in terms of the "date" or whatever......any educated girl who's trying to ensnare you will be obligated to turn you down for a Friday/Saturday date if you ask after Wednesday.

Of course, age group makes a difference. High schoolers rarely follow the rules; most college students don't, though I did and look where it got me :D I couldn't say much more without more info, but good luck nonetheless.

Call her tomorrow afternoon...it won't seem like you're not interested, as it's possible you have other things to do (like ask for advice on an internet forum :p ), but it's not too long.

Are you old enough that being suave will possibly NOT come off as being creepy? Go down that path, if so. If not, well.....just be cute about it. Chicks still in school dig cute stuff.

If you want to call her, just call her. Seriously. Calling someone the day you get their number isn't pathetic. Trying to follow these strange rules about the "right" time to call someone is.

As a chick myself, I would have to say that it would be very nice of you to pretend that you think she already has a date. Like "I know you're probably not free, but is saturday good for you?" Then if she says yes, you're set but if she says no don't take it as an insult. Just ask her when she's available. Oh, and don't wait too long to call. A day or so is plenty.

Don't worry about head games, or how you'll look. If you spend too much time trying to analyze the possible messages you'll be sending by your actions, and you'll end up taking no action. If you call tonight, and you manage not to sound desparate, then she'll get the message that you are interested, and you really want to pursue this. After two days, who know's what she'll think. Your conduct on the phone call is more important than the timing of your call.

One last bit of advice, whenever you call: listen more than you talk.

Same thing happened to me Junior Year of HS and it turned out to be a bummer so be aware so you don't get crushed.

Girls like to go out with guys that are their friends and that know them. Usually they've gone out with the other sort of hot and cool guy before since girls go out with older guys. By the time you get into Junior Year though, it's difficult to still do that.

Rather than ask her out, ask if you wanna hang out and don't worry about being suave since you're just trying to be friends about it. Also, if you can't drive yet and if you don't have a job, DON'T BOTHER TRYING TO GET HER to be your GF. The fact is you can't mooch off your parents AND get along with a girl. She'll think its annoying or possibly cute, and one of you will get fed up with having to deal with your parents all of the time.

If you're just friends you can kid around and "flirt" and have fun without spoiling anything. Don't rush it since it won't feel quite right if you do. Relax and have fun. Only ask her out if you're comfortable after getting to know you and if she starts looking to you for help or compassion.

Look. This isn't the only girl in the world. Her's isn't the last phone number you'll ever have. Call her when you want to. If she doesn't like it, tough; find someone else to call. If she doesn't like YOU, tough; find someone who does.

Want my advice? Don't listen to other people's advice, including mine. Do whatever feels natural. Don't wait two days if it seems weird to wait two days. Especially don't wait two days if you're going to be seeing her at school in the mean time, but wait however long you want to wait. She's not going to suddenly dislike you because you didn't wait the prescribed time.

I have a plan though.

When I go to school tomorrow and she'll be in class, I'll act flirtingly with her just like before, as if this never happened. As if I never called her.

And I will continue to act oblivious. By not knowing that it's a bad number and she pwnt me, that means I never called her in the first place, showing that I didn't have that much interest in her anyhow.
