Two questions to conservative capitalists

One, do you believe that the government should subsidize businesses (big OR small)?
If you answered 'Yes,' proceed to this question:
Do you regard other people who oppose subsidies as anticapitalist? If so, why? (Subsidies are probably the most anticapitalist thing a government can do short of socialism)

BTW this question was sparked by a conversation that I had with my [supposedly] capitalist mother, that when I told her I oppose gov't subsides of business she labels me as anticapitalist (I'm prly more capitalist than her).

Nope.

Nor should the government fund any research, except that it pertains to one of its core responsibilities.

No.
Whenever money changes hands, power has just moved with it. Either the corporation is getting its government kick-back, or the government just nationalized said industry.
If said company is incapable of surviving on its own merits, then it doesn't need to exist. Same goes for farm subsidies and welfare programs.
Sink or Swim, but don't expect other people to jsut give you their flotation devices.
