LOS ANGELES - Lindsay Lohan, whose car crash in May led to a state law aimed at reining in celebrity photographers, has crashed again, this time after witnesses said she was swarmed by paparazzi.

seriously i think paparazzi are ticks that need to be squashed. they shouldnt be allowed to hound people...

thoughts?

While I am all for freedom of the press I am all for responsibility of the press as well
These guys were acting in a most irresponsible way in a situation with great risk to themselves and the target of their attention

That’s what I mean there has to be some practical threshold of what is reckless and should not be allowed

I think these guys crossed it (that paparazzi)

Paparazzis exist because there is demand for the services they offer. If people weren't so interested in celebrity gossips, these guys wouldn't have a job.

It would be pretty dificult to put a cap on what the media can and cannot do without interfering with their constitutional rights.

The difference is I don’t care if they exist … its their methods that step over the line sometimes.

The market may be able to very the quantity of paparazzi but it has very little direct control over their methods

In the non media law there still is such a thing as reckless endangerment. Its their methods that are causing problems … not necessarily their content (I find it un appetizing but that’s me)

Interesting point here, when does the Freedom of the Press conflict with the Right to Privacy?

Seems rather contrivarsial?

very good question...

i think it is unsettling that some people cant even barbecue in thier back yard without someone in the bushes taking a few polaroids...

Exactly.

But, at the same time, isn't it the Press' duty to provide us with "news"?

This is a very complex issue, and I wouldn't be suprised if it cam in front of the Supreme Court sometime in the future.

a celebrities privacy is dramatically decreased. why should we have the right to be informed about something that is private information. we shouldnt feel that it is ok to follow a celebrity to a resteraunt to see who they are eating with or what they are eating, or sit outside thier house to see what hours they keep or what they do in thier yard. its something thats definately controversial. we have to find the line between whats right to know and whats right to remain private...

I don't even know why there's such a market for the Paparazzi's product. Who the fuck cares who's dating Brad Pitt or what third world country Angelina Jolie has decided to adopt her next baby from?

I don't know what's worse.. the parasitic paparazzi or the millions of people who depend on them to live their lifes through these celebrities as if they're that *special*... it's disgusting..
