A classmate of mine told me that your IQ in one country isn't the same as to another and the 100 points score is given to the avarage of that country.

Best part: The same guy claims that if you have a 115 score in the states, you have a 100 score in my little nonexisted place called Holland which is build around the 'country' Amsterdam.

I don't know wether or not to believe it but I certainly want it to be true.

Especially since I saw a poster once which made clear that the 15 states with the highest average IQ voted Kerry and the states with the 18 lowest avarages voted Bush.

And the lowest had an avarage IQ of 85, so in holland you've got if the line is linear 60 then?

On a proper IQ test you get a 60 score after answering no question correctly at all, you can't have an IQ lower than 60, and it's avarage there.. There are people dumber than the Dutch IQ of 60 in Texas??

God damn it. You could do a lot lower than Texas. Take a look at Mississippi, Arkansas or Mormon Land (Idaho and Utah).

Australia's average IQ is 97, but only because I live there. Which is why when I move to Tex-ASSSSSSSS next year their IQ will up a few dozen points. I'm that godamn smart it should be a crime!

Sorry, but the test isn't linear. The IQ test is on a bell curve. Besides, the unknown guy you heard this from didn't mention the context. The IQ tests are flawed because they are biased toward certain cultures and educational backgrounds.

And finally, everyone knows NOT to mess with Texas. Even Floridians like me. If you want to pick on a state, try West Virginia.

Hehe. Always love those quotes. IQ tests aren't actually the truth to a person's intelliegence. Its just evluating how you learn. One sory comes up that this one man failed all his IQ scores with a 70 and below, but everything he saw, wrote, read, thought, stayed with him. So wound't that be his intelligence? Not the test? And by the way, this man has common sense, which almost everyone has very little of....maybe there should be CS tests.....

The exit polls I saw round election time showed there was actually a correlation between levels of education and Kerry support...the higher the education the more likely to vote kerry

Apparently this was just done here in California.

It doesn't make you smarter, it just doesn't dumb you down any. Classical music produced a higher score once and haven't been able to get the same results since then.

Whatever the IQ difference is from rich country to rich country is probably insignificant. What matters is a.) how far ahead IQ is in the developed world than the developing one, and b.) how nicely it has changed overtime. What would be considered genius in 1900 is quite common these days.

....Yes. I believe I have. But as long as you are happy, you'll be fine. Common sense is more important that inteligence ay day.
Example: You are strolling along the orad when you see a piano fall from a fifty story building. 2 people are standing below, and both look up at the same time. Person A has the IQ of 70, Person B has an IQ of 155. The Guy with the IQ of 70 has common sense, the other guy doesn't have much. As the piano is falling, Person A steps to the right and moves away from the piano quickly, but effieciently. Person B stands there and begins to compute how much time he has to move before being crushed. CRUNCH. Person B is no more.

I think I'd rather be person A.

However, it was very comprehensively discredited afterwards due to his flawed methodology.

As much fun as the idea is, it's technically false and practically true.

An IQ test that includes culturally specific questions (Who was the 40th president of the United States? or How many digits are there in a ZIP code?) is inherently flawed.

True IQ is theoretically a measure of native intelligence, and all culturally based information is obviously learned.

Dunno if this is factually true, but actually ur logic is slightly flawed. :sniper: The average is set to 100 in each demographic , true, but what that means is that if u scored 115 in the USA, (with average set to 100), and then 100 in Holland, then you are above average in the USA, but just average in Holland. In otherwords, there are more smarter people than u in Holland then in the USA, thats why u were further up the Bell curve in the USA ... :confused:

Point being , the IQ gives u your place within a demographic - if u have a lower score in one particular demographic, it doesnt mean that the demographic is dumber, it means that u r dumber on average compared to them. :( Hence while ur friend might have been trying to be smartass and prove that americans are smarter, he's actually gone and proved just the opposite... :p LOL
