Ah-nuld would make the perfect Master Chief.

I don't think that really has much to do with how the movie will turn out.
I now feel a bit better about this movie... it may actually be good.

I always thought Bruce Willis would be a good Master Chief, as long as it's not Ben Affleck or Matt Damon or some shit.

I just don't think the game was good enough to merit a movie deal and really whats going to happen is their going to milk the halo cash cow dry

What's so special about HALO anyway? Funny how it are always the uninovative things that become classic, people don't seem to like extra stuff, all they want is a clean simple overviewable plan.

Remember, kids, Games into---> movies are rarely good.
Another thing I would like to bring up is the plot. The plot in the games was kind of a generic fps plot, aliens have come...shoot them. so unless they completely overhaul it or add on some crap from the "master chief's" *cringe* past its really just gonna be "Independence Day" with a cyborg instead of a quip-throwing rapper

And it will be without Jeff Goldblum. Remember, "The Eye Goes To Goldblum".

I don't know, the folks in Hollywood might decide he'd make a good Cortana...

Anything with Goldblum is gold...
...Well, except for the travesty that was Jurassic Park 2. He made it bearable, luckily, but he himself couldn't save it. Ugh.

You have gotta be kidding me. A movie on a video game? That is the nerdiest thing I have ever heard of.

Where have you been for the last year, and can I hide there too. I mean, you somehow missed Resident Evils 1 & 2, Alone in the Dark, the Doom hype, and I am pretty sure that I am missing at least 4 others.
Video Game-->Movie is now becoming mainstream, because people have discovered that fan boys will buy anything if you slap the right kind of great big logo on the front.
However, due to the recent bout of responses, it appears that my epic Tetris Trilogy won't be making it to movie anytime soon. Such a shame, it looks as if the story of Straight Line with 4 Blocks #5686869 will never have an oppurtunity to make it to the box office.

Has anybody seen Red vs. Blue? It's a short movie based off of Halo. I'm pretty sure that it started on the internet. It's main goal was to produce laughs, which it successfully did.
Speaking of video games into movies, isn't there a Final Fantasy VII sequel that's supposed to be a movie?
I'm feeling pretty good about the flick.
Sci fi? Check.
Big budget? Check.
Good screenwriter? Check.
Awesome Production Team? Check.
At the very least, I'll forecast a minimum 7/10 as far as IMDB goes.

I've never even played HALO and I know Bruce Willis would rock as Master Chief. That is just inherent knowledge.

And to top the hot fudge sundae that is Jackson producing Halo, there should be a studio-wide order to shoot Uwe Boll on sight.

I'm not thrilled yet. The thing with Halo is it has a good backstory that probably won't be touched.
If Jackson starts with the Fall of Reach, this movie might do a lot to make Master Chief a great character if they show him and his Spartans, Hasley, and how the Covanent war began.
However it's something I doubt. And Master Chief really needs an unknown actor with the same voice over.

The fact that its being directed by Peter Jackson gives me some hope. He seems to have a knack for easily converting convoluted story lines into films. And don't forget, he's an expert at showing hordes of squishy, puny beings being slaughtered by overpowered heroes. Big plus there.
Well, whatever happens, it'll be better than the DOOM movie. They've totally raped the story. No hellmouth? Mutants. No single hero on an odyssey into the territory of primal fears? A "team" movie. It's like they've sucked every dark, gothic, evil and twisted element that made doom DOOM and poured it into some foul receptacle. Probably Paris Hilton.

Have you noticed a pattern with all of these movies though? I mean, beyond how they were all videogames beforehand?

AHAhahahahahaha just like the doom movie coming out soon. I think G.W. Bush should play the master chief because isn't he our... oh, wrong chief. Uhhh..BEN STILLER, VINCE VAUGHAUN, OWEN WILSON, WILL FERREL, OR ADAM SANDLER, those guys the stars of every movie aren't they?

Russel Crowe would make an awesome Master Chief.

my picks:
Master Chief: Christian Bale
Cortana: Halle Berry
Captain Keys: Bruce Willis or the captain guy who dies defending the port thing in The Matrix Revolutions
other assorted cool people: Eomer from LOTR (whatever his name was), Hugh Jackman (cos he's just that cool)
any other main characters i've left out (apart from covenent people)? its been ages since i've played either game... and i was kinda disappointed with halo2 so i don't remember it as well as the original
(forgive my lack of suprise at this news, there was a thread about this this morning too)

tombraider, doom3 ring a bell?

Halle Berry as Cortana would be a good mix, you're right.
It doesn't matter who Chief is, you never see his face. You could have a stunt double do everything and just dubb it over. There's not much plot to Halo, at least not enough to make a movie. Most of it is just shoot crap for three hours, which will get boring quick. It's only fun if you're playing it.

hm thats true, however i think if you did get to see his face, and going by voice, christian bale would be pretty good if he 'gravelled' it up a bit. he's got a perfectly cold tone for the part imo.
and while halo may not have much of a plot, it does have enough of a sci fi world it has created for itself to have a good plot plastered on top (you know there are two books out, based on the halo world, already). kind of like creating whe world, characters and backstory of the lord of the rings and then saying 'wow we need an actual story here... how about this crazy ring idea..."
if that makes any sense lol
oooh and sean bean has to be in it, but thats mostly because he has to be in everything! and brian blessed too! :P
