Walken for President in '08

To those who aren't already aware, Christopher Walken has announced his intent to run in '08. (http://www.walken2008.com/)

His platform, while I don't agree with it entirely as one might guess, is surprisingly more sensible than most of the current manifestos I'm seeing from the GOP or the DP. As much as it pains me to say this, he really ought to run as a Democrat in order to get a lot of press, hopefully to counteract the growing pseudofascism known as the Neoconservative movement.

If he does run as a Democrat, I'd consider voting for him. Short of that, I'd side with a small government Republican [provided the GOP is intelligent enough to field one] or a Libertarian like last time.

Joke or no joke, I'd still vote for him.

That Brooklyn accent would be great for a President.

Um... no, not from what I can tell. On what basis were you informed that it was? I'm pretty sure he's actually doing this, as a more comprehensive platform was released a few days ago.

Maybe it isn't. A thread about this was made about a month ago. I think someone pointed out that it was a joke.

Well, that someone was probably missing a few brain cells.

Possibly.

Well his site is hosted by Overcity Productions (http://www.theocpd.com/hosting/), but there's nothing that leads be to believe [on the surface at least] that there isn't some substance to it. Chances are, if it were a hoax we'd have seen him release a statement on the issue, which admittedly I haven't yet looked for. Perhaps I'll hit Google and see if I can find a statement from him on the subject or somesuch.

"The person who put this together was just trying it as a hoax, I presume," said Mara Buxbaum, Walken's publicist.

The story is false. (http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/hoaxes/walken.asp) Christopher Walken is not running for the office of president in the USA.

The Washington Post seems to have a statement from him saying it's '100% false'. It doesn't look promising...which is annoying.

""The person who put this together was just trying it as a hoax, I presume," said Mara Buxbaum, Walken's publicist. "My take on it is it sounds like the person who put this on the Web took his role in 'Wedding Crashers' too seriously and now wants him to run for the presidency." "

So I read through the pdf of his platform.

I must say, I've never wished a site to be more true than that one.

Good job to whomever put it together. Now let's all work to make it true!

Walken/FSM '08!!

I sure wouldnt vote for him, even if he did run.

Iraq: He is for staying in, to "finish the job", even if he wants to leave sooner than later.

Immigration: Not for stronger border control.

Gun stance: Anti-gun, for strict liscencing, etc... Huge no-no.

Tax: He wants a fair tax, which I am quite against.

Sorry, but if anyone gets my vote, its good old stewart.

Christopher Walken is elected President.

Foreign News Correspondent ( FNC ): "Who is your President now?"

State Department Official (SDO ): "Our President is Walken."

FNC: "That's nice, but what's his name?"

SDO: "He's Walken."

FNC: "You told me that already. But I need to know his name."

SDO: "Walken, Christopher."

FNC: "He's walking Christopher? Who's Christopher?"

SDO: "Walken."

FNC: "Walking where? Who's walking?"

SDO: "Our President."

FNC: "That's what I need to know! What's his name?"

SDO: "Lady, are you shinnin' me on? He's Walken, Christopher!"

FNC: "You're not making sense!"

SDO: "So now you're saying Americans are stupid?"

FNC: "No, I just don't understand why you're having so much trouble communicating! I just need to know his name, you twit!"

SDO: "Lady, you're being insulting! I told you he's Walken. If you don't want to believe me, at least be civil about it!"

FNC: "Arggggg! Just tell me his frakkin' NAME!"

SDO: "As the latest appointee to this Ambasadorship, I was appointed by Walken, and now you're telling me I don't know my own President???"

FNC: "You've lost your bloody mind! No one gets appointed by walking, not even in that cesspool of a country you laughingly refer to as 'America!' And I never even suggested that you don't know who your President is, which is more than I can say for me after trying to worm it out of you for almost a half hour now!"

SDO: "Walken's appointees are the best in generations! We are not insane! America is not a 'cesspool,' and I have had enough of this shit!"

FNC: "Holy Mary, Mother of God! My article about you, your unnamed President and your entire frakkin' country is going to make Al Jazziera look like a Sunday school picnic!"

SDO: "That's it! You print that damn article and I'll make sure Walken takes care of you, your rag of a newspaper, and your entire worthless country!"

FNC: [ storms out ]

SDO: [ storms out ]

Two days later America and the entire continent of Europe are at war!

PLEASE don't elect Walken! :D

America does need more actors as President.

Let's face it, executive politics is as much acting as anything else. Why get tongue-twisted ex-oil execs or southern playboys? Actors all the way.

That would be great Stewart with walken as VP (or vise versa)
