Now there's a surprise.

An individual corrupt in one area of his life is invariably corrupt in others.

That, and DeLay is a tool.

All I have to say here is that this is going to get very interesting really fast.

I wonder if he'll leave the House if this keeps up.

I know I know. Don't hold my breath!

Be surprised that FOX is running this. That'll help.

Yeah, but just look at how much incisive political analysis they are lavishing on this story. No expense is being spared. You'd think a major disaster had happened somewhere in Africa or something.

You people do realize that this is just a last ditch attempt by Earle to take out Delay. If anything, these charges are going to be even harder to prove than the previous ones, otherwise he would have made them first. Earle will have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Delay knew of, approved of and participated in the scheme to get money laundering charges to stick. That takes much more evidence than just a conspiracy charge.

And your evidenciary support for this is?...or are you just trying to blame the messenger?

Um, with the conspiracy charge all Earle would have to do is show that at some stage that Delay was in on the planning of the scheme, the legality of which is still up to question. With the money laundering charge Delay would have to at some point taken an active role in the operations themselves, which unless he has an IQ of a retarded chicken, I can't see him doing.

...and your evidence for this is? Certainly if a criminal is innocent until proven guilty, a DA should be afforded the same rights?

Ok!

Maybe I should've made myself clear. This was a different grand jury that was investigating him that indicted him on the Money Laundering charge.

What the evidence is, I don't know. We'll have to wait and see.

2 independent grand juries...and yet it's supposedly all just a liberal smear...

Just to toss this out there. It may be 2 different Grand Juries but it is the same DA!

With luck he'll be convicted and put in jail, where he belongs.

What'll be interesting is if DeLay gets convicted and appeals--apparently, a lot of the state appellate judges in Texas got campaign contributions from Delay's PAC. Conflict of interest, anyone? Or do you think it'll stop them from hearing the case?

New Grenada, lets not hold our breath for him to go to jail, "The Hammer" has many powerful connections. I wouldn't be suprised if he got off relatively easily.

Yeah ... but it's a DA that has a long and rich history of indicting Democrats.

Yep--he's a guy who goes after whoever is in power at the time, because they're the most likely to be corrupt. I respect that.

but the "2 plus 2 makes 5" machine tells me that this is clearly partisan hackery. who is a person supposed to believe, the propaganda arm of the ruling elite or the liberally-biased facts of the universe?

And knowing the history behind Earle's persecution of TX GOP pols, DeLay has very little to be afraid of. He can ask Kay Bailey Hutchison...
