What with everybody being silly and completely missing the point over a certain someone's comments regarding babies of a certain color, it raised the question:
If someone who felt so inclined (for whatever reason, maybe he got really bored) could somehow make an entire ethnic group stop breeding (chemicals in the water, pay them a grand to be sterilized or get an abortion or whatever) without killing anyone for the purpose of removing such group perrmanenttly from the Earth in several decaeds, would it be wrong?
I'd say not. After all, if race is an unimportant matter, then there should be no problem with removing a group overtime.

Now, a couple rules first:
For the sake of argument, abortion isn't murder. Further, the sterilization is painless and poses no health risk
No mentioning the certain someone's name or certain things said, there is already too much effort being spent arguing over a joke
No specific races have been mentioned, and so none should be.

As the question is rendered irrelevant. You said we could wipe out a race, but race is unimportant. So why would we be thinking of wiping it out anyway.

It wouldn't be very nice to the people if they were forced to be sterilized. And only somebody who thought "race" was important would try to wipe one out.

Humane genocide? You mean like in Serenity, with the hydrochloric gas that was supposed to pacify the people of Miranda, but instead killed most of them? And created violent mutants out of the ones who didn't die?

If the sterilization/abortions are voluntary, go ahead, though I couldn't see how on earth you'd manage to do it voluntarily.

Races being equal isn't a rule, though, its just my reasoning for why I'd say "Why not?"

Yes, there is still a problem. The problem with genocide has nothing to do with race, and the same thing applies here.
Here's the problem:
Do they want to be sterilized? If not, well, there you go, it's wrong.

seriously, and i was going to see that movie tonight!

Given that, given a choice, people won't accept sterilization, I would say the only way you could pull this off is lying. As in, "This stuff we're putting in your drinking water will make your bones healthier!" Or, as we've seen in mental "hospitals" in the past, "Your gonads are making you crazy. We'll just remove them for you and you'll get better!"

By the way, there's some evidence the Nazi ideology of genocide came from the American Eugenics Society.

So... Basically it boils down to that genocide is alright if every member of the ethnic group decides for him/herself not to have any children?

Change it to stupid people and then try to imagine what it would be like the night before the test.
