Given the recent interest in conspiracy theories in this forum, the latest being weather control through the HAARP facility in Alaska, I'm giving this link to several theories, including HARRP.

Linguists know Ancient English isn't a Gothic langauge - it was derived from Celtic languages in the 2 centuries before Christ. The Runo Memorus seems to say that it was then influenced by Gothic language in the middle of the 'Dark Ages'...which it was...it was then influenced by French around the time of William I. Modern English is a construct of Celtic, Gothic and other ancient (Greco-Roman) languages. It's not really a conspiracy theory.

You should go and read that site first...

Basically, the grand idea is that the Latin alphabet is actually a syllabary. "FINLAND" thus doesn't read "fin-land", but "efiien elaaende", or "fiend-land". And so on. It's just brilliant.

I love to read "conspiracy theories!" I've followed the evolution of the various JFK assassination conspiracy theories almost from their birth ( I was about 17 at the time ). Even if I don't find them fascinating, they're alwyas entertaining! :)

M'kay, you caught my interest YET AGAIN.

For one, HAARP isn't the only ionospheric heater.
EISCAT in Norway is one of them.
SURA in Russia is also.
Arecaibo (sp?) also has one.
The functional terms are: Langmuir turbulence
10 Hz (ULF or ELF)
J, K, L levels of atmosphere
Bernard J. Eastlund (patents et cetera)
Patents:
#4,686,605 (Aug. 11 1987)
#4,873,928
#4,712,155

I happen to have two sourcebooks that have been somewhat following dvpmnt of HAARP by Nick Begich, brother of the current mayor of Anchorage (AK is where HAARP is- Gakona)
and an interesting *conspiracy* about his father and the head of the Warren Commission going down in a fiery plane wreck - a flight that Bill Clinton drove them to!
TG me or post something, there's a lot of interesting material on it.

er...

ok:

A) Gothic was an East Germanic language. It has no relatives living today.

B) English is a West Germanic language, descended from Anglo-Saxon. Not from Gothic; although as they are both Germanic languages it is more closely related to Gothic than it is to Celtic languages.

C) Although English has influence from French and Latin, most of it's most common words and roots, as well as it's grammar and syntax, are Germanic in origin. It has very very little influence from the languages of the pre-Anglo-Saxon Celtic inhabitants of Britain.

D) That linguistic conspiracy theory isn't even that interesting. I prefer the one that says that Basque was the first language, and that all other languages where created from Basque by a secret society of monks :D It's true, some crazy guy said it.
