I object to this gross innacuracy!
The United States of America is a democracy! We live in freedom and happyness (blah blah blah, a few paragraphs) and thats why we should rewrite the pledge!
This is obviously an innacuracy on the part of the people that wrote the pledge, we should rectify this immidiatly!

Doesn't work. We are a republic, that's the side the grammar police are on. Sorry, no cookie for you.

Heh, we're not a democracy, otherwise we'd vote on every governmental action.

We're a republic, where we have representatives vote on every governmental action.

You better go back to school and take a History or Civics course. The United States is a Republic, not a Democracy.

That's like thinking you're clever for anticipating the sunrise...

nope might sound too biblical. you know King James version and all that.
better just do away with the pledge all together so we don't offend anyone, well except for the uberpatriotic but who cares about them anyway ;)

Why don't we stand up, stare really hard at the flag, and sit back down? In our heads we can do whatever pledge we want.

I pledge alligeance...woah look at that chick's ass!

The nation as a whole is a federated republic, meaning all the states are (traditionally) sovereign (though not so much anymore) but hold loyal to the federation. States are democracies, because most if not all positions are directly elected, even governors. The national government is somewhat elected directly and somewhat appointed, Senators used to be appointed by state legistlatures and the President is appointed by the electoral college usually according to the will of the people, but not always.

The pledge is actually a marketing ploy to sell flags, but it became so popular that is was codified into law and encouraged. Nobody can be forced, legally, to recite the pledge. I have no problem with it.

Though obviously a joke, the us is not a democracy. Republic + Democratic functions still means Republic.
