The Americas were doing OK, when Europe conquered it. (You know except for those side effects.)
Of course, when Europe left, everything went to hell.

Now, you and I both know that the various North/SouthAmerican governments are not very good. They're making their own people starve, and things are horrible there.

So I suggest reviving European Mercantilism.

It would be beneficial to both parties, with the Europeans controlling the Americas, because it would be easier for them to facilitate aid, and help things around here. Also, they need to get more manpower, AND more resources, which is always a great thing. Everyone benefits.

They need to re-colonize the Americas.

A total collapse of the modern economic system, especially currencies (remember how dependent mercantilism was on the precious metals), which would stoke hyperinflation and certainly cause another depression.

Of course, then we would all be poor, making Africa look somewhat less destitute by comparison.
