In the pantheon of asshat things to say, bill bennets statements have to be up there with Marge Schott's "Hitler was okay at the begining, he just went too far at the end" throwaway.

The former U.S. education secretary-turned-talk show host said Wednesday that "if you wanted to reduce crime, you could -- if that were your sole purpose -- you could abort every black baby in this country, and your crime rate would go down." Bennett quickly added that such an idea would be "an impossible, ridiculous and morally reprehensible thing to do." But, he said, "your crime rate would go down."

Now he may very well believe this, but in today's day and age, pretty much everyone with an IQ slightly higher than a lettuce leaf understands that you just can't get away with this type of thing. It honestly scares me that this type of lackwit can get a position of responsibility, anywhere, anyplace. I wouldn't even hire him as a dishwasher. He is obviously so stupid he would fuck that up too.

Anyway, he's right... kids of all races are every nation's core criminal group... something like 2/3 of reported crime occurs among the 18-25 bracket, with much of the rest between 25-35.. so.. yeah, kill anyone with horomone levels more than 15% above that of a man of retirement age and you'll stop most crime. It's brilliant, really. :)

The point is, the fact that he felt able to say this publically in the first place - blurted or not - bespeaks a staggering lack of self awareness and intelligence. If you are going to say this type of thing - at least obfuscate it with academic sounding language and dress it up in a fake study.

I believe he was responding to the recent hypothesis that legal abortion is one of the causes of the US's reduced crime rate. In any case, whatever the context that is just a stupid thing to say. You'll never get a pass whenever you use "black babies", "abort" and "reduce crime" in a sentence. Even if you do go on to say that it is morally reprehensible.

Dishwashing: the dismal science...

Use a waterproof smock and soil your shoes (the smell after a few months is unbearable).

Use a cloth smock and have to walk around soaked all day, freezing in the winter months...

Chefs that can't seem to help burning something into every pan they touch... fixing the Autochlor machine when the technician fails to show up when he promised... the taste of degreaser permeating your lungs.. being treated like a second-class citizen by the waitstaff and management... Dishwashing is not the glorious profession it seems - it's not milk and honey every day.. you're everyone's favorite scapegoat, and even if you prep cook or bake the bread or take inventory, you're always The Dishwasher, nothing more.. the title sticks. 'bespeaks', if I'm not mistaken, is one of those words that was very popular about a century and a half ago. I use a lot of words from that era, also, and people look at me funny a lot.

Aborting all babies would make the crime rate go down eventually, for sure. You can't make the same claim for aborting only a segment of the population. No-one knows what society will be like in twenty five years. There could well be a higher crime rate, even though there are no blacks under forty.
