Back in my youth I was a collector of things. Stuff. Lots of stuff. I need your opinion on something. I collected TV Guides from about 1972 to the late 80's. I have a closet full of old TV Guides, and I keep telling myself, "Don't throw them away, someone will want them." So what do you think? Are old TV Guides worth anything?

I doubt it. Well, maybe in a couple of centuries.

Have you tried looking on ebay.

Wow, and I thought Frank Costanza was the only one.

I say keep them. Worthless, maybe, but they're still good to keep.

put "vintage tv guide" into the ebay search box and see what they are going for.

Save them for a cold winter day when somebody blows the power supplies of your area. Then burn them for heat and light.

I mean, that's what my Audubon Society cards are still here for, 'cause I freaking KNOW it's bound to happen.

They may be worth something as they are, but I think what you should do is complete the collection by getting the remainder from late 1980's to 2005. Better start now. You'll have something to be proud of.
Cannot think of a name

I did that (well, I just put TV Guide in) and got this (http://books.search.ebay.com/tv-guide_Magazine-Back-Issues_W0QQcatrefZC12QQfrppZ50QQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQmaxrecordsreturnedZ300QQsacatZ280).

Some aren't worth crap, some are. One looks like it's going for $15. I would have thought that the Ed Sullivan/Muppets Christmas would be worth more, but what do I know.

Looks like some of them are valuable and some aren't, probably has a lot to do with content and who's on the cover. If the collection is huge, then you've got quite a bit of money there if you want to bother with it all.

EDIT: I should point out that almost none of them are bid on and they look to be a lot from this AC Young cat (from the mailing labels on the cover). Are you AC Young, by any chance?

Just find the right person and it will be worth something, but this seems like quite a niche. To me they're worthless, to you they're an unspecified ammount of ka-ching at the moment. Mabe make modern art of them, that cra...stuff always sells for something. Like the stuff hot pans go on.

EDIT: Is "Myrth" supposed to be "Myth" or am i missing something?

I'd say get rid of them.. of course, I've been bitter since I found out how little my wheat pennies are worth..

Oh my Brad, it costs 20 cents each or something to list them individually.

Really not worth it.

No, I'm not AC Young.

Aww, I sympathize. Coins were among the things I collected.

Ummm, yes, you are missing something... knowledge of the Glorious History and Traditions of NS... Myrth was a famous person (probably still is) and his name appeared as an option every time there was a vote on anything. Some of the oldies still remember that.

Keep them. There is no shame in being a pack rat.
