Ok lads and lassies, I'm doing a bit of an unnoficial survey and I need some input. It goes like this: If pirates and ninjas were locked into an arena, say a team of 10 on 10 and told to fight with full arsenals, who would win? Pirates or Ninjas.

Please briefly describe your reasoning afterward. Thank you! ^_^

Depends do the pirates have the cursed treasure from pirates of the carribean? and do the ninjas have cool mystical powers?

Pirates would win, Ninjas are not suited to arena fighting OR massed battles, but instead assassination and infiltration. It would be bloody for both sides, but the pirates would win. In addition, pirates are way cooler than ninjas.

I don't know if I'd agree that pirates are "way cooler" than ninjas, per se, but...

I was gonna say Ninjas... But on further thought, I have to agree with Santa Barbara, at least on the first point... Pirates are indeed better trained and suited for mass combat. All those boarding actions, you know.

Not to mention, if one of 'em has a decent sized carronade, well... There's just not enough shuriken and smoke puffs in the world.

Ninjas, definitely. Pirates may be better at massed battles, but on a one-on-one brawl between a ninja and a pirate, a ninja would own.

In response to The last celt's question: if you think that mystical powers and cursed treasure fall under the category of "full array of weapons," then the answer is yes....if not, then no.

Pirates. Hands Down. Plus, they've got that whole pillaging, looting, raping, and burning thing going on. I'm pretty sure that once the ninjas were dead, the pirates would have no problem with pillaging, looting, burning, and possibly raping the dead ninjas. (I mean, they did just come off the boat. It's lonely at sea, damnit!)

Hmm well if the pirates get the cursed treasure and Ninjas get the mystic powers its going to be a draw as neither side could be defeated.

So I am going to go with Ninjas because Pirates are less disciplined and would probably end up killing each other in a drunken rage.

It depends on how much rum and beer the pirates already drunk (everyone knows pirate don't fight well when sober)

Hmmm... if they had all those powers, they'd probably fight...

And then they'd look up and say, "Hey! Better than trying to kill each other, let's do politics! One of us can be the Republicans and one of us can be the Democrats!"

Ninjas would own. The teams are even and they're in an arena, not at sea so the pirates wouldn't know what to do. They'd just be in the arena like 'where are the ninjas?' and then the ninjas would pop out of nowhere and start slitting throats.

Nah I disagree its blatantly pirates. They have loads of pistols as well as cutlasses, daggers, hand hooks etc. Plus they fight dirty.

I think what we can all agree on is that it is an interesting problem

if pirates had guns then they would win but if it was only fighting with swords and daggers and stuff then ninjas would win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

pirates would destroy the ninjas.cos a pirates arsenal includes a boat,complete with cannons and other pirates.so every pirate would have his own pirate ship full of pirates.the ninjas wouldnt have a hope

Uhm... assuming we're discussing the "Modern" views of ninjas and pirates (ie little regard for historical accuracy), I'd say that ninjas are "cooler", but I'm forced to admit that the pirates would win. Of course, in this case, you must ask yourself: What are ninjas and pirates doing fighting in the first place? :rolleyes:

Wait, wait. If we go by how ninjas actually were, masters of disguise and all, wouldn't all the ninjas be disguised as pirates?

R u serious? Ninjas hands down. I admit that pirates are pretty cool but theyre not even as cool samurai or robots and we all know that a nija could take either of them. I argued about this for an entire 90 minute class period and i was right so there. i even used a mathematical equation that proved that one ninja was equal to or greater that 9 pirates. Im sorry but one ninja could prolly take 10 pirates by himself.

I didn't say anything about death combat. Read the first post. I just asked which is cooler and added a poll. Now go participate! GO!

Well, it depends on what exactly the ninjas and pirates are able to fight with, what the arena is like, and how (in what positions/set-ups) the particiapants are standing. Depending on these circumstances, it could vary widely, but I'd probably give a slight edge to ninjas, because they're just so agile and skilled at hiding.

On a related note, an interesting coincidence. The boys and girls cross-country teams at my school dressed up today to show team spirit kind of thing. Yep, you guessed it: the guys dressed up as ninjas, and the girls as pirates. :)

if I read that correctly (just woke up) your saying that a ninja would beat a samurai. According to my research the samurai would beat the ninja easily, this of course is all based on computer game and hollywood logic.

Lemming nunchucks? Sounds like Fighter's idea for Sword-chucks from 8-bit Theatre- either one is lethal, but cool sounding ^_^

No way dude. Pirates have pistols and ninjas can't dodge bullets. Plus pirates are known for actually fighting. Ninjas avoid fights and just assasinate people from the shadows then flee.

Yeah maybe, but this fight is between ten ninjas and ten pirates. A pirate's skill increases exponentially due to the syngergistic effects of pirate morale, whereas a ninja just becomes more paranoid.

Alas, I remember the days when endlessly repeated topics ranked as almost highbrow in origin, such as evolutionary threads and pro/anti abortion threads. Then the Paradise club became the endless repition. Now, it's pirates versus ninjas.

Everyone knows that ninjas own pirates. Now lets put it to rest, shall we?

pirates come from a european back ground and ninjas are from an asian background, and we all know the europeans end up totally owning the asians.

if you replace ninjas and replace with sam fisher type people, they would totally own, they are the modern american version of the ninjas(plus they have guns).
